Fans of the Love Live! School idol festival 2 MIRACLE LIVE! outside Japan can still enjoy its mobile game for a limited time.
Despite plans to wind down its Japanese version, the rhythm game's global launching will still push through.
Japanese entertainment company Bushiroad announced that they will release Love Live! School idol festival 2 MIRACLE LIVE! worldwide this February. In fact, pre-registration for both Android and iOS devices has already begun since January 25.
However, the publisher also revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that the game will go offline on all platforms this May. Their Global Launch Notice read that 'the Global Version will close its doors on May 31, 2024, and cease in-app purchases accordingly.'
"We appreciate the love and support you've shown, and we're committed to making these last few months an unforgettable moment," they added.
Earlier, Bushiroad and K Lab games Love Live! School idol festival 2 MIRACLE LIVE! disclosed that they will shut down the rhythm game in Japan effective March 31. Their decision to pull the plug on Love Live! School idol festival 2 MIRACLE LIVE!, both for the Japanese and global versions, dismayed several fans.
X user @c89 tweeted that he 'never have I seen someone announce a launch and closing in the same tweet.' "WHY WOULD YOU EVEN LAUNCH IT?," tweeted X user @mi9uru
The Love Live! series is one of the bestselling multimedia franchises in Japan. Love Live! School idol festival 2 MIRACLE LIVE! first rolled out in Japan in April 2023. Prior to its release, publishers launched a similar mobile rhythm game called Love Live! School Idol Festival. But it went offline just 16 days after launching in Japan in 2023.
