Good news for Switch players and fans of the award-winning series Life is Strange
Life Is Strange: Double Exposure, the latest installment in the popular episodic adventure game, has launched on Nintendo Switch. The game went live on Switch's eShop last November 19.
But wait there's more.
Double Exposure will also be getting a physical copy. Publisher Square Enix confirmed that they will roll out the physical edition on January 28, 2025. It will contain the full game on a 16GB cartridge and exclusive merchandise. This included a limited edition steel bookcase as a pre-order bonus at select retailers.
Life Is Strange: Double Exposure's expansion to Switch consoles came just weeks after its debut on PC and other consoles.
In the game, players reprise the role of Max Caulfield. A former Arcadia Bay resident, Double Exposure takes place at Caledon University where Max studies photography.
Compared to the original title, Life is Strange
, this newest chapter in Life is Strange introduces new elements. Like supernatural and a murder mystery.After discovering the body of her close friend Safi in a snowy field, Max attempts to use her time-rewinding powers to solve the mystery.
Inadvertently, unlocking a parallel timeline where Safi is still alive. As Max uncovers the truth behind Safi's death, she realizes the killer is poised to strike again, threatening both timelines.
Players must navigate these dual realities. They need to use Max's ability to shift between them to unravel clues and confront dangers. And ultimately, prevent the same murder from occurring twice.
The Nintendo Switch version of Double Exposure retains the game’s trademark visual style albeit has optimized controls for handheld and docked play.
Since its release, the Life is Strange series has garnered critical acclaim. Gamers and critics alike praised the game for its emphasis on narrative depth and player choice.
Developed by Square Enix External Studios in collaboration with Deck Nine Games, the franchise became a commercial and critical success.
Meanwhile, collectors can start pre-ordering the physical edition of Double Exposure. Square Enix is expected to reveal more information about the release of the physical version soon.
