Japan-based publisher Chorus Worldwide will bring the narrative game Last Time I Saw You to PC and consoles next year. In a press release, Chorus Worldwide said they are set to roll out Last Time I Saw You for PC, PS4 and PS5, Xbox One and Series X, and Nintendo Switch. They said the target date for launching would be "Summer 2024."
Shintaro Kanaoya, CEO of Chorus Worldwide, said the game impressed them after playing its demo on the first try. He also said they immediately saw its potential.
This beautiful, haunting, and enjoyably playable adventure will stay in gamers’ hearts for a long time,
said Kanaoya. We’re so excited to work with Juan (Fandiño) and the Maboroshi team to bring the game to life,
he added.
Maboroshi Artworks, an indie Japanese game studio, is developing the upcoming game. Juan Fandiño Martin is its creator and is in charge of art and writing.
Featuring hand-crafted, 2D visuals, Last Time I Saw You is pegged as an emotional adventure game. Set in the countryside of 1980s Japan, the players become a Japanese teenager named Ayumi. They must help the 12-year-old protagonist deal with his feelings for a strange girl.
He suspects that the stranger has afflicted their town with a curse. At the same time, Ayumi cannot explain why he feels attracted to her.
Fandiño said Last Time I Saw You based on his own heartbreak experience.
I decided to take all the conflicting emotions I had inside and try to make something useful with them,
Fandiño explained.
The developer added that he hoped the coming-of-age game would also help gamers who went through the same difficult phase in life.
(I hope the game will become) into a somewhat healing experience that other people could also enjoy and relate to,
said Fandiño.
