Three years since its release, the multi-awarded action-adventure Kena: Bridge of Spirits is finally heading to Xbox consoles.
Its creators from Ember Lab announced on June 4th, 2024 that the upcoming Xbox game title will hit the platform on August 15th. The game can be played on both Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
This development marks the game's first foray onto Xbox, bringing the captivating story of Kena to a whole new audience, said Josh Grier, Chief Operating Officer at Ember Lab.
"As our debut game, Kena means a great deal to everyone at the studio, and the team is excited to share Kena's journey with more players. We really hope everyone enjoys meeting Kena and her Rot friends," he said.
Aside from the title itself, Ember Labs revealed that the Xbox edition of Kena: Bridge of Spirits will come with new content. Like pirate-themed hats for the furry spirit companions known as the Rot. Xbox players will also receive a unique staff for Kena and a special Golden Rot skin.
The Xbox version will also contain all content found in its PlayStation and PC counterpart. These included the Anniversary DLC released in September 2022. Accessibility features have also been incorporated to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all players, developers said.
On the other hand, Ember Labs has also partnered with Maximum Entertainment for the distribution of physical copies of the game. Called the Kena: Bridge of Spirits - Premium Edition, it will feature exclusive merchandise. From the game's Official Digital Soundtrack to stickers. pre-orders will soon launch.
Kena: Bridge of Spirits has garnered significant acclaim since its initial release on PlayStation platforms in 2021.
Players and critics alike praised it for its narrative 'seamlessly woven into exploration, puzzle-solving, and exhilarating combat.'
The story revolves around the protagonist, Kena, and her journey of self-discovery as a young Spirit Guide. The role of a Spirit Guide is to help deceased spirits find peace and move on to the afterlife, with the help of their magical abilities. As Kena, the players will not only help individual spirits. But also, they need to fulfill a quest to restore balance in a forgotten village.
Among the accolades Ember Labs received for Kena: Bridge of Spirits included the Best Independent Game and Best Debut Indie Game titles in The Game Awards 2021. On whatoplay, it received its highest playscore of 8.6 on PC and PS5.
The Xbox version of Kena: Bridge of Spirits will carry a price tag of US$39.99. /
