Norway's Funcom announced on August 13th the release date for the virtual reality (VR) version Metal: Hellsinger. The Oslo-based publisher, in a press release, stated they will release Metal: Hellsinger VR on September 26 and October 3.
The first round of launch on September 26th will be for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3, and Meta Quest Pro. Meanwhile, the game will arrive on Steam and PlayStation VR2 on October 3rd.
In the meantime, Funcom has started accepting pre-orders for the game. Players can pre-order Metal: Hellsinger VR on Meta and PlayStation platforms. And those who can pre-order successfully will receive the Dream of the Beast DLC for free. The downloadable content will also include two additional songs, a new weapon, and three outfits with unique abilities.
Metal: Hellsinger made its debut in 2022 via PC, and consoles. The game's story follows a mysterious protagonist on a quest through Hell to reclaim their stolen voice. Along the way, they encounter demonic foes and epic boss battles.
It is a first-person shooter that blends intense combat with a heavy metal soundtrack. Players need to synchronize their attacks to the music's rhythm to maximize damage and unleash devastating combos.
The game's heavy metal soundtrack features artists like Serj Tankian, Matt Heafy, and Alissa White-Gluz. The Dream of the Beast DLC expands the soundtrack with songs by Cristina Scabbia and Will Ramos. The expansion also introduces The Red Right Hand, a new weapon that fires in rhythmic bursts.
Metal: Hellsinger received generally positive feedback from gamers and critics alike. They praised the game for its unique gameplay mechanics and adrenaline-pumping soundtrack. On whatoplay, the game received a playscore of 8.6 for its PC edition, 8.0 for PlayStation 5, and 7.8 for the Xbox Series X|S edition.
