Polish game studio Thing Trunk has tapped Skystone Games for the release of its deck builder title HELLCARD.
The two gaming companies confirmed their tie-up ahead of HELLCARD's release. The upcoming game will land on PCs in early 2023.
Executives from Thing Trunk and Skystone Games revealed that they shared the same enthusiasm for HELLCARD's potential. Konstanty Kalicki from Thing Trunk said they are glad to have joined forces with Skystone.
Skystone's team is packed with talent and publishing expertise. Even more importantly though, we understand each other and are surprisingly aligned,
Kalicki said.
Renowned game developer David Brevik currently leads Skystone Games. After the first Diablo game sold well and got good reviews, Brevik became well-known in the video game industry. He previously worked for Blizzard. He also once served as the co-founder and president of Blizzard North.
For his part, Brevik, who sits as Skystone's President, said their team became an instant fan of HELLCARD.
It's got the same amazing visual style in Book of Demons, with the kind of just-one-more-run gameplay that makes games of the genre so beloved,
Brevik pointed out. We're thrilled that Konstanty and the entire Thing Trunk team are trusting us to help them bring HELLCARD to the masses next year,
he added.
In the meantime, developers said they had opened sign-ups for the game's closed beta test.
Creators described HELLCARD as a "cooperative roguelike deck builder" game. It is the second major project for Thing Trunk. HELLCARD's storyline will take place in the same "Paperverse" as Book of Demons. Players can choose to play either in single-player or multiplayer modes. To win, they must conquer 'strategic and fast-paced' card-based battles.
HELLCARD will be available for download via Steam.
