Game Science's action RPG Black Myth: Wukong emerged as the biggest winner of the recently concluded 42nd annual Golden Joystick Awards.
This year's iteration of the Golden Joystick Awards crowned Black Myth: Wukong as the Ultimate Game of the Year.
In addition to its top honor, Black Myth: Wukong also earned the award for Best Visual Design.
Meanwhile, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Helldivers 2 also bagged several awards. Each secured a total of four awards.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth won in the storytelling and audio categories, with Briana White and Cody Christian recognized for their performances.
Helldivers 2 dominated multiplayer and console categories, claiming the Critics’ Choice Award among its accolades.
Other winners that night included Team ASOBI, the developers behind Astro Bot. They took home the Studio of the Year award. Astro Bot itself secured Best Audio Design.
Fan-favorite Satisfactory claimed PC Game of the Year. Balatro, a roguelike deck builder, was named Best Indie Game while also receiving the Breakthrough Award.
The celebration also highlighted major upcoming titles.
Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto VI won Most Wanted Game, while Fallout claimed Best Game Adaptation for its television adaptation. Other notable winners included Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree for Best Game Expansion and the Steam Deck OLED for Best Gaming Hardware.
The 42nd Golden Joystick Award was held at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London. The event streamed globally across multiple platforms. It saw over 12 million public votes cast across 21 categories.
Hosted by actor Ben Starr, the awards ceremony also featured appearances from famous gaming personalities.
This included actors Alex McKenna and Patricia Summersett, composer Alex Moukala, and Cyberpunk 2077 developer Monika Janowska. Content creator GeeNelly and past winners from Sabotage Studio were also in attendance.
