Great news for G.I. Joe fans and retro gaming enthusiasts.

<a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/g-i-joe-wrath-of-cobra/">G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra</a>, the latest game in the mega-franchise, finally has a release date. Creators from indie.io and Maple Powered Games announced that the upcoming side-scroller will launch on PC this September 26.

The game can be purchased via <a href="https://store.steampowered.com/app/2516170/GI_Joe_Wrath_of_Cobra/">Steam</a>, <a href="https://www.gog.com/en/game/gi_joe_wrath_of_cobra">GOG</a>, and <a href="https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/gi-joe-wrath-of-cobra-45e4ed">Epic Games Store</a>.

G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra is a side-scrolling <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/best/beat-em-up/">beat 'em-up</a> game. Developers promised to bring a 'nostalgic yet modern take' on the classic arcade brawlers.

"G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra is a love letter to the franchise," said Kerry Vandenberg, co-founder of Maple Powered Games.

In the game, players battle their way through hordes of Cobra's villainous forces, including Storm Shadow, Destro, Zartan, Baroness, and Cobra Commander himself.

They can play any of the beloved G.I. Joe heroes like Duke, Scarlett, Snake Eyes, Gung-ho, and Roadblock.

The game also takes across iconic G.I. Joe locations like Cobra Island, the Pit, and even Cobra's underwater base, as players fight on land, air, and sea.

G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra can be enjoyed solo or with up to four friends in <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/best/coop/">couch co-op</a> mode. Players have access to an arsenal of weapons, combo options, and special abilities to choose from. It also allows them to take them down enemies either in Arcade or Story mode.

On the other hand, Vandenberg promised they will provide free content updates after the game's PC debut this September 26th. These included possibly adding an online multiplayer option and more characters.

"We're excited to see players join the fight for freedom!" she added.

G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra is also slated for a later release on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. Details of the console launch are yet to be made public.
