Following its successful launch on Steam in August, Five Nights at Freddy's: Into the Pit is now available on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch for $19.99.
Into the Pit is unlike previous Five Nights at Freddy’s titles. Instead of sharing the classic’s signature first-person exploration, Into the Pit showcases the series’ first-ever 2D pixel adventure. One thing remains: deadly animatronics still roam the pizzeria.
The game is a new chapter in the popular Five Nights at Freddy's horror franchise. This takes players to take control of Oswald, a teenager who stumbles upon a time-bending secret hidden in a pizzeria's ball pit.
Oswald must travel between time periods to save his father and other children from the haunted animatronics.
The game received an ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ review on Steam from over seven thousand users. Most of the praise comes from its solid story and interesting gameplay choices. However, some fans have complained about the lack of actual scares, which was a staple in the original series.
It also gained a 9.2 playscore rating on the Whatoplay database. 9 critics including Game Rant and Comic Book gave Into the Pit perfect scores. It was clearly a step in the right direction for the series’ future after its series of middling sequels.
The game was developed by Mega Cat Studios, a Pittsburgh-based studio responsible for games like WrestleQuest, Bite the Bullet, Backyard Baseball ‘97 and more.
Into the Pit will serve as the series’ first installment, paving a new story to the expanding universe of Scott Cawthon’s Five Nights at Freddy’s.
Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into the Pit is now available digitally on the Nintendo eShop, PlayStation Store, Xbox Marketplace, and Steam.
