<p>Winter Crew’s indie project, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/fallen-tear-the-ascension/">Fallen Tear: The Ascension</a>, made its grand debut at Gamescom 2024. This upcoming 2D <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/best/metroidvania/">Metroidvania</a> is a single-player adventure with RPG mechanics.</p>

<p>It is the first title from The Winter Crew, a Philippine-founded studio established in 2020. Despite being a small group of passionate developers, The Winter Crew is committed to creating original video games of superior quality.</p>

<p>In Fallen Tear: The Ascension, players take on the role of Hira, a mysterious young boy on a quest to find answers about his forgotten past. Along the way, they encounter a cast of fully-voiced characters, each with their own unique stories to tell.</p> 

<p>Each decision will shape not only Hira's journey but also the fate of his companions and the world, creating a deeply personalized adventure.</p> 

<p>The world of Fallen Tear: The Ascension is no cakewalk. Players will experience a fluid combat system that blends traditional RPG elements with modern action, offering a wide range of strategic possibilities. Additionally, the protagonist will face complex puzzles and obstacles tailored to each area, demanding both wit and skill.</p>

<p>As a Metroidvania, unlocking new skills and abilities are essential for navigating the ever-changing environments that constantly pose a challenge for players.</p>

<p>Much of Fallen Tear’s inspirations come from legendary titles like <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/elden-ring/">Elden Ring</a> for its intricate level design. Apart from that, the developers of Winter Crew also took a page from one of the <a href="whatoplay.com/switch/best/">Best Switch Games</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/the-legend-of-zelda-breath-of-the-wild/">The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild</a>. Both titles help Fallen Tear boast an immersive adventure packed with magic and wonder.</p> 

<p>As for its JRPG elements, the developers are proud to name beloved classics like <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/suikoden-iii/">Suikoden</a> and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/valkyrie-profile-lenneth/">Valkyrie Profile</a> as their blueprints. These two inspirations resulted with the game’s hand-drawn art style., bringing its visually stunning fantasy world of Raoah to life.</p>

<p>Players who prefer thinking outside the box can also find numerous secrets hidden throughout its world. Even the developers cited Shadow of the Colossus as its inspirations for well-hid secrets.</p>
