In Elsie, players take on the role of the titular protagonist as she battles through a Cyberpunk world filled with procedurally-generated levels. Players must aid Elsie in finding the truth behind her home planet after a major catastrophe.

The game borrows familiar mechanics from popular roguelikes such as the all-time best PC game, Dead Cells. It combines the genre’s signature action-packed gameplay with a unique parry system. This opens up new gameplay options to battle enemies and escape danger.

Like any other roguelike, levels are procedurally-generated. Runs are an infinite loop of experimentation through neon-drenched pixel stages. To make the quest worthwhile, players will acquire a wide array of weapons, skills, and augments. The developers promise endless replayability with hours of content and daily challenges.

The game also includes a star-studded voice cast of notable women in the games industry. This includes Lucy Games (Giant Bomb, GameSpot), Shelby from the YouTube channel GirlFriend Reviews, and the iconic Elsie Lovelock who voices the titular character.

Elsie will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch starting September 10. Fans can add the game to their wishlists and try out the free PC demo now. As an added bonus, Playtonic Friends is hosting a giveaway, offering fans a chance to win a Steam Deck. More details can be found through the publisher’s official channels.
