Dustborn, an upcoming narrative game from Red Thread Games, is heading its way to PC and consoles soon.
Publisher Spotlight by Quantic Dream announced they will launch Dustborn this August 20. The game can be played on PC, PS5 and PS4, and Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. Spotlight made this announcement during the recent Future Games Show - Spring Edition.
In the meantime, creators dropped a new gameplay trailer for Dustborn. The video also contained never-before-seen gameplay footage. Dustborn throws players into an alternate America.
There, they will guide the protagonist Pax, an 'Anomal', who can turn language into a weapon. Their mission involved delivering a mysterious package. Under the guise of a punk-rock band, Pax and her crew must travel from the Pacific coast to Nova Scotia.
Players also got a glimpse of the dystopian America in Pax's world from Dustborn's latest trailer.
Aside from a story-rich, road trip experience, the game contains investigations and puzzles. The trailer also confirmed moments of combat like hurling Molotov cocktails from a motorcycle.
But Dustborn isn't just about the journey; it's about the people you meet along the way, said Creative Director Ragnar Tørnquist. “It is, first and foremost, a character-driven game about people and the power of words," he said.
In a press release, Tørnquist emphasized the game's focus on character development and the power of language.
"Dustborn is all about understanding your crew, their relationships, and how your words shape the world around you," he added. The upcoming PS5 game also allowed creators to explore more about the action-adventure genre, Tørnquist said.
"Dustborn builds on our experience creating single-player, narrative-driven projects," he said.
In the meantime, pre-orders and wishlist for Dustborn are now open, its publishers announced. The game will be carrying a price tag of $29.99 (€29.99). A limited-edition physical version will also be available for $39.99 (€39.99). It includes exclusive merchandise like stickers, postcards of key locations, and a 32-page prequel comic book. / ###
