Bear Belly Games is excited to announce their highly anticipated roguelite adventure, Dungeons and Ducklings, which is slated for release on PC on December 15.
Check out its release date trailer here:
This ‘QuackMan’ roguelite takes inspiration from arcade classics like Pac-Man, blending nostalgia with modern indie innovation. Players will guide a determined Mama Duck on a mission to rescue her ducklings, battling an evil Lich and formidable bosses along the way.
Similar to Pac-Man, its gameplay combines fast-paced coin collection with combat mechanics. But instead of eating enemies, coins change a player’s weapon, allowing them to break walls and defeat a swarm of enemies. After each run, they can also visit the Toe Beans Café to purchase upgrades and unlock stylish gear that visually changes Mama Duck's appearance.
Throughout the game, players will face bosses that can reshape its hand-crafted pixel art style battlefield. Apart from that, like any good roguelike, it features a soundtrack composed by Richard Shallbetter and Mike Rieckenberg (Specks), which earned accolades at Minnesota's 2D Con for its immersive quality.
Dungeons and Ducklings is packed with diverse zones, creative enemies, and deadly traps, which can result in an engaging never-ending challenge.
Dungeons and Ducklings is designed for gamers of all ages. It has pretty straightforward controls and a whimsical charm that will captivate younger audiences. With full voice acting and quirky writing, the game promises an entertaining experience for everyone.
Players who want to try Dungeons and Ducklings before its release can try out the Demo on Steam. It gives would-be dungeoneers a taste of what’s in store for this duckling’s imminent journey. It will cover the basics of its gameplay, dungeon-crawling and roguelike elements.
Fans of retro-inspired indie games can look forward to the Linux and Mac versions shortly after, with a Nintendo Switch release planned for 2025.
