Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe has announced the release of DEATH NOTE Killer Within, the first video game adaptation of the hit anime series Death Note. It brings the anime's dark themes of truth and deception to life through a social deduction format that supports cross-play for up to 10 players.

Like a darker and twisted version of Among Us, players are divided into two teams: those following the infamous killer Kira or the determined investigator L.

Each team vies for supremacy by uncovering opponents' identities, with Kira’s team attempting to eliminate L, and L’s team striving to seize the mysterious Death Note. Pretty sure everyone in the world knows what this precious notebook can do.

Players can take on one of four roles: Kira, Kira’s Follower, L, or The Investigator. Each role has distinct gameplay mechanics and strategies. Additionally, with randomized scenarios, the stakes rise as players need to adapt to evolving conditions, making each round a hectic and unique experience. On the other hand, it's also a game about trust and deception, so it is the perfect game to play with friends. The game’s cross-platform capabilities can let players play anywhere regardless of console preference.

Players can also express their characters with its customisation options. It allows players to unlock nameplates, avatars, and various accessories, adding a personal touch to their in-game personas.

For players who prefer the extra cosmetics, the Premium Customization Track Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 add character avatars, in-game pets, nameplates, and custom accessories (Light’s headset, L’s mask, and Ryuk’s eye mask.) for anyone who purchases it. Purchasing the Special Edition can give players access to the base game plus both Premium Tracks.

For players wondering how does this game work, Bandai Namco has released a gameplay tutorial, available on YouTube, providing insights into tactics and strategies. Check it out here:

The game currently stands at a ‘Very Positive’ rating on Steam from 180 users, with gamers saying it is best played with potato chips.

Death Note: Killer Within is now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Steam. PlayStation Plus members can acquire this game for free as part of its November catalog.
