Dead Island 2, the sequel to the hit 2011 survival zombie game, just rolled out a major update.
Creators from Dambuster Studios on October 22 released Patch 6 for Dead Island 2. Patch 6 will introduce new content and features to the game. These included two new modes - the New Game Plus and the Neighborhood Watch. New Game Plus allows players to start a new playthrough.
"You asked for New Game Plus, and we delivered – it’s time to crank up the difficulty, boost that level cap, and dive into Hell-A with new weapons and a wicked new breed of zombies," developers wrote on Steam.
Neighborhood Watch Mode, on the other hand, will be a three-player co-op mode with new characters.
In Neighborhood Watch, players can expect horde fights with a 'tower defense' twist. This mode throws them into the shoes of a trio of college survivors called the Bobcats. And they need to defend their Venice Canals frat house from waves of waves of the undead.
Neighborhood Watch also contains unique skills, weapons, and a new feature - traps.
The launching of Patch 6 also coincided with the release of Dead Island 2 Ultimate Edition.
Dead Island 2 Ultimate Edition includes the base game. It will also contain both story expansions (HAUS and SoLA), and other content found in the six expansion packs.
Owners of Dead Island 2 Gold Edition can also expect their game to automatically update to the Ultimate Edition, with all content included. Dead Island 2 finally launched in 2023 after spending years in development hell. The game received generally positive reviews, both from critics and gamers alike.
It received a playscore of 8.2 for PlayStation 5 and 8.1 for PlayStation 4. While on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, it received ratings of 7.9 and 7.8
