The hype around survival horror games may not go away for some time. Because the team behind Silent Hill 2 Remake just unveiled a new title for the genre.
The Poland-based studio announced a new sci-fi survival horror game. Titled Cronos: The New Dawn, it is set for release in 2025. The game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
The unveiling also came just days after the release of their highly acclaimed remake Silent Hill 2: Remake. The remake version of the hit 2001 survival horror game that received positive feedback from critics and gamers alike.
Cronos: The New Dawn marks a significant milestone for the Bloober Team. It will be the studio's first original IP in the survival horror genre.
"Following the success of 'Silent Hill 2 (Remake),' we are thrilled to present 'Cronos,' an exciting new IP from Bloober Team," said Piotr Babieno, CEO of Bloober Team.
Cronos: The New Dawn is a third-person survival horror.
The game is set in a post-apocalyptic future in 1980s Poland. Based on its Steam description, it will feature a world where 'Eastern European brutalism meets retro-futurist technology.'
In it, players will take on the role of a time traveler tasked with extracting survivors from the past.


They must navigate a dangerous wasteland filled with monstrous creatures. And to survive, use their combat skills and strategic thinking. The game's narrative revolves around a cataclysmic event known as the Change. As a result, players find themselves in a transformed world with a hostile environment.
According to Babieno, Cronos: The New Dawn represents a 'natural progression of their creative vision and the studio's strategy.
"By merging the eerie atmosphere of horror with the boundless potential of science fiction, 'Cronos' promises to deliver a fresh and unforgettable experience," he added.
Developers have also dropped a cinematic trailer, providing gamers a sneak peek into its development. Published on YouTube, the video shows a brief glimpse of gameplay. It reveals a third-person perspective. American game and entertainment site IGN described it akin to 'a distinct Dead Space-inspired atmosphere.'
The trailer also showcased the enemies - grotesque, zombie-like creatures, and a mysterious woman in the middle of a chess match.
In the meantime, Cronos: The New Dawn is now available for pre-order on Steam, the Microsoft Store, and the PlayStation Store.
