CounterAttack: Uprising, a side-scrolling space shooter packed with customizable ships and weapons, makes its way to the Nintendo Switch in Q3.
Developed by Relative Games, CounterAttack offers an action-packed experience. It has multiplayer features for up to 8 online players and 4-player local co-op.
In the game, humanity's existence hangs in the balance as they face a mechanical apocalypse. The "Automatons" are vicious beings that aim to wipe out the human race. Humanity is forced to launch the Experimental Space Fighter program, with eight skilled pilots leading the charge.
Each pilot commands a unique ship and possesses a special ability, supercharged by powerful Quantium:
- Ayumi (Tactical Nuke)
- Biff (Big Biff Beam)
- Marcus (Meson Shockwave)
- Joe (Overcharge)
- Sarah (Quantium Shield)
- Sloane (Fighter Squadron)
- Carl (Plasma Strike)
- Jinx (Hack Wave)
Players can either fly solo or team up with others in couch or online co-op mode. Players will fight through 32+ levels with challenging bosses. As they progress, they'll unlock powerful upgrades. These include special weapons, upgrades, and 600+ attachments. The combination power-up system enables players to craft new weapons for their fighting style.
Being on a Nintendo console is a dream come true,
says Relative Games founder Tyler Boyes. To mark the occasion, the Switch port of CounterAttack is introducing a new subtitle – Uprising – which puts the spotlight on the game's sprawling narrative. Once we launch on Switch, all other versions will get the Uprising moniker as well.
CounterAttack: Uprising runs beautifully on the Switch, reaching 60 FPS at 1080p in docked mode and 720p/60 in portable mode,
says Rei Boyes, Relative Games director. The game is incredibly enjoyable on smaller screens – something we already suspected after seeing it run on the Steam Deck. We think Switch owners will have a great time playing CounterAttack: Uprising on the go!
The game also features a unique campaign and level editor, allowing players to create their own missions and levels.
The Switch version will include a redesigned player selector, 25 new attachments, two new levels, "Anomaly" and "Gate", and bug fixes.
CounterAttack: Uprising is currently available on Steam and Xbox. It will launch on Nintendo Switch in Q3 2023. Check out their website at https://www.counterattackuprising.com/.
