It’s no mystery that CD Projekt Red has been in hot water since the botched release of Cyberpunk 2077. While the studio is still recuperating from its losses, they’ve revealed that they’ve become victim to a cyber-attack.

This was posted by the official Twitter account of CDPR:

Apparently, some ‘unidentified actor’ gained access to the internal systems of CDPR and is threatening to sell or leak the data that they’ve obtained from the studio and ‘our contacts in gaming journalism.’ We don’t know exactly what their demands are for now, but they have threatened CDPR to contact them within 48 hours.

While we have no idea what these hackers want from the studio, CDPR has already stated that they won’t give in to the demands of this cyber-attacker.

They write:

We are still investigating the incident, however at this time we can confirm that—to our best knowledge—the compromised systems did not contain any personal data of our players or users of our service.

For now, fans are just waiting to see what happens. We don’t know what motive the hackers have for the studio, but after the fiasco with Cyberpunk and the recent Reddit vs. Wall Street event with GameStop, fans can’t help but speculate that this is another ‘fight the power’ moment with CD Projekt Red as the ‘big bad studio.’

On the other hand, some fans are concerned that this is a severe overreaction that could lead to people losing jobs. Here’s what people are saying on Twitter:
