For fans and players who want to go on a road trip, unlike any other, here's some good news.

Publisher Dear Villagers has teamed up with an indie game developer for an upcoming story-driven adventure game. Titled <a href="https://whatoplay.com/switch/caravan-sandwitch/">Caravan SandWitch</a>, the upcoming game is set to make its debut this year on PC, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.

Caravan SandWitch is developed by Plane Toast, a studio based in France. The game takes players to the fictional world of Cigalo, inspired by France's own Provence. But with a unique sci-fi twist.

In it, they guide the protagonist on a personal quest to find his missing sister in a 'hopeful post-apocalyptic' setting. Along the way, players get to explore Cigalo's rich landscapes and interact with its inhabitants. There's the aboriginal Reinetos, the Robots left behind from the past, and the titular and mysterious SandWitch community. All of them live peacefully in Cigalo and help each other in this unwelcome environment.

As players explore Cigalo, they can also upgrade their van, unlock new areas, and explore ancient ruins.

"There's no combat, no death, and no time pressure – just the open road, the companionship of your van, and the captivating world waiting to be discovered," the game's description read.

Inspired by their childhood landscapes in Provence, France, developers from Plane Toast aims to create a game that tackles themes close to their hearts. These included representation in video games, environmental awareness, and accessibility for all players.

"We are thrilled to finally announce Caravan SandWitch!" exclaims Plane Toast. "After two years of passionate development, we're incredibly proud of what we've achieved. It's a dream come true!" they added.

Caravan SandWitch recently garnered attention at the AG French Direct event. Fans can also expect exciting news soon, possibly including an exclusive demo. / ###
