Chinese developer and publisher Game Science is drumming up anticipation for its action RPG Black Myth: Wukong. The creators of the upcoming PS5 singleplayer game released a new gameplay trailer weeks ahead of its release. And it contained never-before-seen gameplay assets.
The showcase expanded the footage shown during the Summer Game Fest and Play Days. It features a boss fight and in-game enhancements. Based on the trailer, the newest boss battle will feature The Red Loong, a dragon with electrifying powers.
Developers also offered an exclusive glimpse at the recent enhancements made to Black Myth: Wukong. In particular, Nvidia's RTX ray tracing technology into the Guangzhi boss fight gameplay.
Black Myth: Wukong promised not only a 'captivating blend of rich storytelling and stunning visuals.' But also, a unique twist on the action RPG genre.
Players will embark on a journey through a realm featuring the wonders and mysteries of ancient Chinese mythology. The game drew inspiration from the 16th-century classical Chinese novel Journey to the West.
In it, players become a monkey called the Destined One, who can wield spells, do transformations, and conjure magical vessels. Game Science describes the game as an experience that 'encourages experimentation.' This means players can freely combine spells, abilities, weapons, and equipment.
In turn, they can create personalized strategies to suit their preferred combat style.
Black Myth: Wukong is set to be released worldwide this August 20th. Aside from the PlayStation 5, it will also release on PC. Game Science also promised that an Xbox version will still come out soon.
It can be recalled that they decided to push back the game's release for Xbox consoles due to optimization issues.
As of June, third-party community site SteamDB ranked it as the 'most wishlisted game' on Steam this year.
