The game is available now at global retailers and select stores.</p> 

<p>The physical edition brings exclusive content and collectible items for $39.99.</p> 

<p>Apart from the Switch cartridge, or the disc for PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X, the physical edition also includes a build-your-own stagecoach model and a redemption code for the haunting Darkest Dungeon II soundtrack.</p>

<p>Considered as one of the hardest and most frustrating games of all time, Darkest Dungeon II is a turn-based rogue-lite game where players embark on a treacherous journey through a decaying world.</p> 

<p>Players lead a party of heroes to confront both physical and psychological terrors. The game builds upon the success of its predecessor with its enhanced 3D visuals, innovative turn-based combat system, and a diverse range of playable heroes.</p>

<p>The first game, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/darkest-dungeon/">Darkest Dungeon</a>, gained infamy for being too challenging back in 2016. Fans however, overcame the game's difficulty and enjoyed the overall experience. It's one of <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/best/single-player/">the best PC single-players</a> with a playscore of 8.7 from 38 critics and over 70 thousand players.</p> 

<p>This sequel, Darkest Dungeon II found new footing from player feedback in the first entry. However, it did not capture enough of the original’s terrifying novelty. It still did a lot of things right, resulting in a playscore of 7.7 for PC from over 10 thousand players and 42 critics.</p> 

<p>Despite all that, the game is not over yet. Fans of the series can look forward to more Darkest Dungeon II content in the future. Its upcoming update will introduce a new game mode titled ‘Kingdoms’. This challenges players to defend their realm from invading factions. The first of these modules, Hunger of the Beast Clan, will see players battling vicious, decaying beastmen.</p>

<p>In addition to the free content, a paid DLC expansion, ‘Inhuman Bondage’, will also be released soon. This update will introduce a new mini-region known as The Catacombs, a dangerous locale filled with new enemies. Additionally, the expansion will also feature the return of The Abomination, a fan-favorite character from the original Darkest Dungeon. It will offer a unique battle mechanic tied to stress and transformation.</p>

<p>Both the free update and paid DLC will be available to players who purchase the physical edition of Darkest Dungeon II when they launch.</p>

Darkest Dungeon II Physical Edition Now Available Worldwide

<p>Cloud Imperium Games (CIG) made a major announcement at CitizenCon 2954 for the release of <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/squadron-42/">Squadron 42</a>. Scheduled for a 2026 window, the announcement was accompanied by a live playthrough of the studio’s highly anticipated single-player space adventure.</p> 

<p>The hour-long live demonstration offered fans an extensive preview of Squadron 42’s opening moments. It showcases its visuals, storytelling, star-studded cast and large-scale space combat. The demo was the first full public display of Squadron 42’s gameplay to date, dispelling the vaporware allegations.</p>

<p>Taking place in the same universe as <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/star-citizen/">Star Citizen</a>, this separate story puts players into the heat of combat, featuring first-person battles and space dogfights.</p> 

<p>Apart from its gameplay, the game boasts a stellar cast of characters. Big names such as Mark Hamill, Gary Oldman and Henry Cavill put on their mo-caps and acted to ensure Squadron 42’s cinematic intent. Additional cast members also include Eleanor Tomlinson, John Rhys-Davies, Sophie Wu and Jonathan Bailey.</p>

<p>Squadron 42 is already “feature complete” according to the developers, but it is currently in its polishing phase. Despite the delay, players were ecstatic to finally see progress in this much-awaited game. On the other hand, other players are not too happy with it, especially with CIG’s track record for lengthy development cycles. This is evident with Star Citizen, which is still in development today.</p> 

<p>YouTube comments were also a mix between excited and concerned. One complaint was that the cutscenes were too long, potentially ruining the pace. However, most of the fans were already excited to see the full extent of CIG’s latest science fiction project.</p> 

<p>The studio remains dedicated to delivering AAA titles with groundbreaking technology and immersive gameplay. But if it takes a long while to release, it will definitely rile up a few of its loyal supporters.</p>

<p>Sandfall Interactive has revealed the star-studded voice cast for their debut title <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/clair-obscur-expedition-33/">Clair Obscur: Expedition 33</a>, alongside its 2025 release window. The announcement was accompanied by a new gameplay trailer showcasing more of its <a href="https://whatoplay.com/discover/?search%5Bquery%5D=Persona">Persona</a>-like turn-based combat and its dramatic narrative at its center.</p>

<p>Leading the cast is Charlie Cox, known for his roles in the MCU as Daredevil. He will be voicing Gustave,  a dedicated engineer determined to reclaim a future for humanity. Andy Serkis, celebrated for his roles as Smeagol and Caesar, will voice Renoir, a man willing to make great sacrifices for victory. And Ben Starr, known for his recent role as Clive Rosfield in last year’s <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/final-fantasy-xvi/">FINAL FANTASY XVI</a>. He portrays Verso, a mysterious outsider tracking the Expedition</p>

<p>Other talented voice actors are also part of this highly anticipated title. Jennifer English, recognized for her work as Shadowheart from <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/baldurs-gate-iii/">Baldur’s Gate III</a>, takes on the role of Maelle, a loner eager to explore the world beyond her homeland.</p> 

<p>As for the rest we have Kirsty Rider (Netflix’s Sandman, Sifu) who plays Lune, a scholar intent on solving the mystery of the Paintress and Shala Nyx (Netflix’s Old Guard, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/cyberpunk-2077-phantom-liberty/">Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty</a>) as Sciel, a serene warrior unwavering in her commitment to the cause.</p> 

<p>Additional performances by Rich Keeble, Devora Wilde, Tracy Wiles, and Maxence Cazorla add further star factor to the game’s ensemble, though their roles remain a mystery.</p> 

<p>Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has been the talk of the town ever since it premiered its fantastic trailer a few months ago. It is an indie-developed <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-series-x/best/strategy/">RPG</a> that features an innovative turn-based gameplay that challenges players to time their attacks and defenses to overcome formidable enemies. This is similar to what Sabotage Studios did with <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/sea-of-stars/">Sea Of Stars</a>, although it was strictly limited to 2D sprites.</p>

<p>Australian indie developer Critical Games has announced the console release of <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/8-bit-adventures-2/">8-Bit Adventures 2</a>, now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.</p>

<p>This turn-based <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps5/best/rpg/">RPG</a>, which has received widespread acclaim since its 2023 PC release, is a love letter to the NES, SNES, and PS1-era <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps5/best/jrpgs/">JRPGs</a>. It received a staggering 8.9 playscore from 3 critics and over 150 users.</p> 

<p>On Steam, it gained a ‘Very Positive’ rating from over 200 users. Much of its positive reviews were thanks to the game’s story, characters, and music.</p> 

<p>Part of its success is how the game delivers all the charm and depth of classic JRPGs while eliminating frustrating elements like tedious random encounters and mandatory grinding. 8-Bit Adventures 2 features strategic combat, character-driven side-quests, and a world brimming with personality.</p>

<p>Other gaming outlets have also praised 8-Bit Adventures 2 for its engaging gameplay and nostalgic JRPG tribute; the game earned an 87/100 and 4/5 from top RPG gaming sites.</p>

<p>Nightdive Studios has launched <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/killing-time-resurrected/">Killing Time: Resurrected</a>, an HD remaster of the cult-classic 1995 first-person shooter about demonic clowns and ghosts. It is available now on Windows PC and consoles.</p> 

<p>This <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/doom/">DOOM</a>-like remaster brings back the supernatural thrills, dark humor, and campy full-motion-video sequences that made the original a hit.</p>

<p>The game takes place in the 1930s where players assume the role of a former Egyptology student trapped in a cursed estate. They must navigate a mansion filled with supernatural horrors and find a way to destroy a mystical Egyptian Water-Clock.</p> 

<p>This remaster boasts high-resolution character sprites, upscaled textures, smoother gameplay, and modernized controls. Combat is no longer as frustrating as the original.</p> 

<p>Players will also experience restored live-action video sequences, offering clues to the eerie events within the Conway mansion. Apart from that, it also comes with support for up to 4K resolution at 144 FPS, enhanced visuals, and no load times between areas. This makes it the definitive way to experience Killing Time.</p>

<p>Devolver Digital subsidiary, Big Fan Games, announces the upcoming release of a new TRON game from Disney. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/tron-catalyst/">TRON: Catalyst</a> is a new action-adventure game set within the iconic TRON universe.</p>

<p>Building upon the story of the Arq Grid introduced in <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/tron-identity/">TRON: Identity</a>, this new title will bring players back into the digital world with a stylistic isometric experience.</p> 

<p>In Catalyst, players don’t assume the role of Jeff Bridges’ Kevin Flynn, instead, they step into the role of Exo, a program equipped with the ability to initiate time loops.</p>  

<p>This unique power will be vital as Exo confronts the overlords of a deteriorating Grid while evading Conn, a dangerous agent of the CORE. Despite sharing the same rinse and repeat mechanic from games like Dead Cells and Hades, this is not a roguelike game.</p> 

<p>Gameplay will feature a mix of melee and ranged combat on foot and on light cycles. Mastering the Disc unlocks whole new possibilities for gaining the upper hand, making runs easier and adding in a strategic depth in each loop.</p>

Disney Announces New TRON Game Set for 2025 Release

<p>Indie developer Motion Twin, known for its critically acclaimed roguelike <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/dead-cells/">Dead Cells</a>, has announced the release of a limited-time demo for their upcoming game <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/windblown/">Windblown</a>. It is available now as part of the<a href="https://whatoplay.com/post/steamnextfest-oct2024/">October Steam Next Fest</a>, providing players with an early glimpse into the game ahead of its Early Access launch on October 24, 2024.</p>

<p>Windblown invites players into a fantasy world surrounded by floating islands. Like Dead Cells before it, is another <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/best/roguelike/">roguelike</a> adventure where players can explore procedurally generated biomes, crafting unique builds, and battle the fearsome foes known as the Sentinels that stand in their way.</p> 

<p>What sets Windblown apart from other roguelikes is the focus on cooperative gameplay. 1 to 3 players will have to work together to survive a gauntlet of challenges. It encourages high-level teamplay from others, letting them mix and match different Leaper playstyles for better synergy.</p>

<p>The demo is available for free until Monday, October 24, 2024. It will give players a glimpse of the game’s combat and creative mechanics that will define the full Early Access release.</p> 

<p>The final version will expand on this with additional biomes, new weapons, challenging bosses, and the much awaited three-player cooperative online play.</p>

<p>As an incentive for early participation, players who play with the demo will unlock an exclusive Guinea Pig skin for their character in the Early Access version. Notably, progress made during the demo will carry over to the full Early Access release. This will give players a head start once they return back to the Vortex.</p>

As part of its launch period, Developer Solid Clouds has introduced a limited-time Halloween event featuring a Dracula-themed antagonist, Count Garlik.</p>

<p>In this Halloween event, players must confront the notorious Count Garlik, who has been raiding medical supply fleets and capturing civilians. Players who defeat him and his bat minions can earn exclusive rewards, including a unique in-game avatar of the Count.</p> 

<p>Set 400 years in the future, Earth has perished and humanity struggles for survival among the stars. Players take on the role of commanders navigating the internal conflicts and brutal wars between ten warring factions.</p> 

<p>Players can recruit over 100 ships, each with its own unique abilities and backstories. Plus its expansive customizations can allow players to equip their ships with a variety of weapons, shielding and software.</p> 

<p>Starborne: Frontiers is unlike Bethesda’s <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/starfield/">Starfield</a> or Paradox’s <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/stellaris/">Stellaris</a>. Instead, it is a Gacha game, encouraging players to pull for the best ships and materials. The game will have microtransactions, but like every other Gacha product, they are purely optional. Players can still build their own fleet of powerful ships without opening their wallets, but it takes time.</p>

Players are calling it a ‘mobile Game ported to PC.’ Players are also reportedly experiencing bugs which prevent them from clicking and accessing the game.</p> 

<p>Despite all that, it still amassed a strong community of science fiction enthusiasts. The Halloween Event is just a small taste of what’s to come in the game’s future. Players are eagerly awaiting the upcoming Imperium update, which will introduce new features aimed at enhancing the end-game experience.</p>

Free-to-Play Strategy Game Starborne: Frontiers Launches on Steam with New Content

<p>In a surprising turn of events, a <a href="https://whatoplay.com/discover/?search%5Bquery%5D=Destiny">Destiny</a> <a href="https://whatoplay.com/android/best/">mobile game</a> is coming very soon. Titled Destiny Rising, this mobile title is developed by NetEase, known for other massive mobile games in the market such as <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/knives-out-no-rules-just-fight/">Knives Out</a> and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/identity-v/">Identity V</a>.</p> 

<h2>An Alternate Reality</h2>

<p>Rising takes place in an alternate reality many years before <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/destiny/">Destiny</a> and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/destiny-2/">Destiny 2</a>. Veteran Guardians will find new and familiar faces in this parallel world. This is also NetEase’s excuse to make up a completely new story far from the canon. </p>

<p>Players will not be playing the same Guardian from the original. Instead they will assume the role of multiple characters.</p>

<p>This includes the player-made Wolf, the iconic Warlock Ikora Rey, the Iron Lord Jolder, and the youthful Titan-like Kabr. Together, they will herald a new age of peace across the vast Solar System and put a stop to invading alien forces.</p> 

<p>Collecting Lightbearers is where the Gacha system unfolds, luring players to pull the best heroes from across the Destiny Universe. It is safe to assume that more heroes will be added to the game in the future.</p>

<h2>Class, Relic & Loot System</h2>

<p>The biggest twist to Destiny Rising is how the class system is not fully perfected. Hunters, Warlocks and Titans are devolved into prototype-like classes. This is where the Relic system comes in, a special item capable of unleashing powerful Supers and adding perks. The trailer gave us a glimpse of it with the Warlock rampaging foes with a Void Scythe.</p>

<p>It is not a Destiny game without weapons and loot. Rising will also feature an unlockable set of weapons that they can use, as well as a breadth of Light-based powers. It is similar to the original, where weapons range from Primary, Special, and Power slots. They can be Auto Rifles, Snipers, Grenade Launchers, and while this is not confirmed yet, possibly the elusive Exotics.</p> 

<p>The game will not stray away from Bungie’s tried and tested formula. It retains all the best things from the original, including its blend of third-person and first-person perspective.</p> 

<h2>Closed Beta Announcement</h2>

<p>Players interested in joining Destiny: Rising can pre-register and become early-adopters in its upcoming Closed-Beta. Beginning this November 1st, players from Canada and USA can join other Lightbearers across the solar system.</p> 

<p>The Closed Beta will include a selection of modes for both PvE and PvP. For more information, check out their FAQ here.</p> 

<p>Players will take on missions, Strikes, raids and free-roam with its PvE modes; whereas PvP enthusiasts will get a taste of its unique competitive mode called ‘Shifting Gates.’</p>

<p>This is a bold new direction for Bungie’s Destiny franchise. Rising is entirely NetEase’s development, with Bungie shifting its focus to Destiny 2’s Frontier Expansions and their <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/upcoming/first-person-shooter/">upcoming first-person shooter</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/marathon/">Marathon</a>.</p>

Bungie Unveils 'Destiny Rising,' New Mobile Game Set in the Destiny Universe

<p>The physical edition of one of the <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/best/adventure/">best PS4 adventure games</a><a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/silt/">SILT</a> has been announced for release on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. This is in collaboration between Fireshine Games, Spiral Circus Games, and Pix’n Love.</p>

<p>The Standard Edition, or the First Edition, costs €34.90 on both PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. The PlayStation 5 version costs a bit higher at €39.90.</p> 

<p>Fans of the game will also have the opportunity to purchase the game’s special Collector’s Edition. This is available exclusively on the Pix’n Love's website for the price of €79.90.</p> 

<p>It includes the physical game, three lithographs, a numbered certificate, the game's original soundtrack in CD format, and a 164-page artbook. The artbook promises to reveal behind-the-scenes details of the game's creative process, featuring previously unseen illustrations by SILT’s artist, Mr Mead.</p> 

<p>Developed by the UK-based Spiral Circus Games, SILT offers a unique gaming experience set in the mysterious depths of the ocean. This is not the kind of game for players with thalassophobia.</p>

<p>Players take on the role of a diver tasked with uncovering the hidden secrets in the abyss. One of SILT’s unique gameplay mechanics is the ability to possess other creatures. The player can control a variety of nearby creatures to solve intricate puzzles and navigate the darkness.</p>

<p>The game has been widely praised by critics and players alike for its distinct art style, which features a haunting monochromatic aesthetic crafted by artist Mr Mead. It received above average playscores on PlayStation 4 and 5, scoring 8.1 and 8.2 respectively.</p> 

<p>The physical edition of SILT is set for release in February 2025, offering players a chance to fully experience this dark, immersive world.</p>
