<h2>10. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/sonic-mania/">Sonic Mania</a></h2> 

<p>After a series of disappointing Sonic titles and movies (for now), <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/sega/">SEGA</a> was in a difficult position to redeem their famed Blue Hedgehog, well, until now. Sonic Mania was the answer to everyone’s burning questions and complaints. It was a rebirth of the ‘failing’ platformer and finally, it’s great in all directions. </p>


<p><a href="https://whatoplay.com/critics/gamespot/">GameSpot</a> was impressed by its sentimental appeal, giving the game a 9 out of 10. Calling it “an excellent 2D platformer which surpasses its predecessors.” It fixed the mistakes of the old titles and managed to bring a ‘modern touch’ for its new (and old) players. For Sonic fans, it was huge news. </p>

<p>But it’s not perfect. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/critics/polygon/">Polygon</a> even complained about the games’ frustrating controls, which was justified since there are new players coming in everyday.  Another from <a href="https://whatoplay.com/critics/video-gamer/">Video Gamer</a> criticised Mania for its reliance on nostalgia, which, in turn, gave this title no innovative changes. </p>

<p>However, SEGA is aware of it and they’re planning to improve the future Sonic titles. For all its worth, Sonic Mania is the franchise’s return to form and it has a playscore of 8.80. </p>


<h2>9. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/guacamelee-2/">Guacamelee! 2</a></h2> 

<p>The Mexiverse is back to explore. A sequel to <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/drinkbox-studios/">Drinkbox</a>’s <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps3/guacamelee/">award-winning platformer</a>, return to the wild shoes of the brave Luchador as he continues to use his brawn… and brains to save his beloved world from doom. </p>

<p>Of all the list of reviews in our database, A review from <a href="https://whatoplay.com/critics/cubed3/">Cubed3</a> gave this a perfect 10/10 due to its huge improvements to its Metroidvania elements. He lauds “the game’s ‘low skill floor, but high ceiling” when it comes to its core gameplay loop. </p>

<p>It even rewards those who are really up for the challenge when it comes to finding every secret in its interdimensional world. </p>

<p>In addition to this staggering success, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/critics/ign/">IGN</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/critics/games-radar/">GamesRadar+</a> and most of the gaming community also praised the game’s heavy emphasis on exploration. However, it’s not without flaws. Guacamelee 2 may be impressive, but to some, it is a downgrade compared to the first release that already set the bar high. </p>

<p>Combat remains fun, but the sheer amount of upgrades and stuff to do left players ‘unimpressed’, but hey, you can’t always please everyone. Nonetheless, it’s a fantastic game, Guacamelee 2 is indeed a prime example of platformers done right, and it receives a playscore of 8.82 </p>



<h2>8. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/ratchet-and-clank/">Ratchet & Clank</a></h2>

<p>Also one of Sony’s celebrated titles spanning decades. A re-imagining of the first game of the series and marks the comeback of the most iconic dynamic duos in gaming. Alongside its release is a film that did not live up to the game’s standards.</p>


<p>Ultimately, Ratchet & Clank is a step up compared to its older titles. IGN gave it a 9/10, admiring its nostalgic charm and the fun selection of WEAPONS to mess around with. </p>

<p>Most of the negative receptions the game received point to its slower segments and the lack of something new on its plate. At the end of the day, it’s just a remake, but <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/insomniac-games/">Insomniac</a> does it with confidence.</p>

<h2>7. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/rayman-legends/">Rayman Legends</a></h2>


<p>When we’re talking about Platformers, nobody forgets about <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/ubisoft-montpellier/">Ubisoft</a>’s psychedelic display of power. Jump from painting to painting and enjoy vibrant levels with catchy tunes and rhythmic beats. It’s a Rayman game, all right.</p>

<p>It’s such a great game even GamesRadar+ and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/critics/cocconnected/">COGConnected</a> are already calling it as one of the best platformers in recent times.Rayman Legends continues to push the limits of the genre by adding numerous gimmicks. They may look ridiculous at first, but on multiple playthroughs, they keep the game rewarding as the first time.</p>

<p>Most of the game’s additional fun stem from its four-player co-op, where you and three of your friends can do stupid stuff together. Aside from, maybe, Ubisoft’s Uplay launcher, the game is a gem for the platformer community.</p>

<h2>6. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/hollow-knight-voidheart-edition/">Hollow Knight - Voidheart Edition</a></h2>

<p>Recently, there has been a growing number of games borrowing Dark Souls’ insane difficulty and ‘gothic’ style. </p>

<p>Of all the games coming and going, Hollow Knight stayed and proved it’s something familiar, however different. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/team-cherry/">Team Cherry</a>'s Voidheart Edition is the ultimate Hollow Knight experience. It’s replete with all the free DLC issued since its <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/hollow-knight/">vanilla release in 2017</a>. But to label it comparable, or a spiritual successor of Dark Souls is insulting. It is not. Hollow Knight is a league of its own. Although it does have deep lore to uncover for dedicated fans. </p>

<p>Set in a fictional world where Bugs take control of society, you play as a nameless Hero with a sword aptly called ‘Nail’ to strike foes down. </p>

<p>A critically-acclaimed release; according to <a href="https://whatoplay.com/critics/push-square/">Push Square</a>, Hollow Knight ““shines bright, considering its solemn presentation and challenging gameplay.” They gave it a 9 out of 10 on the PlayStation 4. The only gripe this game received is that fans wanted more from it, which was great. At least for now, we have the sequel <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/hollow-knight-silksong/">Hollow Knight: Silksong</a> to look forward to.</p>

<p> Voidheart Edition receives a playscore of 8.84. </p>


<h2>5. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/celeste/">Celeste</a></h2>

<p>Indie games are all over the video game market; heck, most of the games in this list are Indies. Celeste, if you haven’t heard of it, developed by <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/matt-thorson/">Matt Thorson</a> is the pinnacle of platformers in 2018. A simple story about a girl trying to get to the top of Celeste Mountain isn’t so simple at all. </p>

<p>By injecting relevant themes of today’s society like mental health and accessibility in games, Celeste won numerous awards including Game of the Year. Celeste on the PlayStation 4 is exceptional. With a steady stream of hardcore triple-A titles, it stood out as a must-buy for platformer enthusiasts. </p>

<p>Even IGN, despite its controversial reviews, gave it a 10 out of 10. Calling it a “surprise masterpiece”, and even we can’t deny that. It was universally praised for its responsive controls, fantastic story and utterly challenging levels are the qualities needed for a compelling game in 2018. </p>

<p>Celeste had everything on the table. It receives a playscore of 8.89 </p>


<h2>4. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/dead-cells/">Dead Cells</a></h2>

<p>The concept of time and space is irrelevant in platformers. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/motion-twin/">Motion Twin</a>'s Dead Cells made sure you could learn from your mistakes and maybe, mess things up again. </p>

<p>It’s Groundhog Day but for hardcore gamers. As a player who can’t die, repeat the process of hacking and slashing your way across a randomly generated castle. In its hybrid of Metroidvania and roguelike, Dead Cells is a welcome challenge for those masochists who want to do everything as hard as possible. </p>

<p>The game is well-received, especially when it comes to their organic level design. Each time you die, a different task awaits you… all procedurally-generated.</p>

<p>Even IGN, who before managed to plagiarize a certain content creator for its original Dead Cells review on this game, praised the game’s flexibility and beautifully-detailed levels. If you can get past the intense difficulty, you might enjoy this again… and again.</p>

<p> It has a playscore of 8.93. </p>


<h2>3. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/inside/">INSIDE</a></h2> 

<p>To call INSIDE as a mere platformer is an understatement. It is, like <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/playdead/">Playdead</a>’s previous title <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/limbo/">LIMBO</a>, a game you should dive into without knowing too much of. </p>

<p>You play as a young boy trying to run away from the hands of what evils may lurk in its dystopian and somewhat ‘Orwellian’ society. And as a Platformer of sorts, you solve puzzles and experiment with various possibilities that don’t result in your brutal death. </p>

<p>Push Square and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/critics/thumbsticks/">Thumbsticks</a> gave this a perfect score of 10, and we can attest to that. INSIDE is strange, unsettling, and the narrative it tries to tell is even more surprising, especially with its crazy ending which we won’t spoil. </p>

<p>Most of the game’s best features are not even features. The amount of secrets it has in store for players is what gave it a good rating. Much like LIMBO, there is a tinge of bizarre to the journey, which we once again won’t spoil. The only concern this game had was its short game length, which at this point, is not a surprise by PLAYDEAD’s standards.</p>

<p>INSIDE is a pure test of quantity over quality, and it receives a playscore of 9.03. </p>


<h2>2. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/shovel-knight/">Shovel Knight</a></h2>

<p>At this point, anyone with a knack for gaming knows about <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/yacht-club-games/">Yacht Club</a>'s Shovel Knight. The quintessential platformer that sets a new standard for Kickstarter-funded campaigns. Inspired by numerous classic platformers, Shovel Knight has dug out of from the pile of massive games coming all around it. </p>

<p><a href="https://whatoplay.com/critics/ztgd/">ZTGD</a> gave it a perfect score of 10, saying “... it felt like I was discovering a wonderful game from the past that I had somehow missed when growing up.”That’s the effect Shovel Knight had on the people who played it. It is reminiscent of old-school games that some veteran gamers can easily relate to. </p>

<p>Modern players will enjoy its simplicity. But will stay for its high replay value and massive content, that includes its DLCs which add a whole new layer of gameplay that doesn’t involve digging and hitting enemies with your shovel.</p>

<p>That’s right, a Sony exclusive tops the list of our 10 best PlayStation 4 Platformers, and for good reasons. </p>

<p>Considered as the best VR Platformer out there, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/japanstudio/">JapanStudio</a>'s ASTRO BOT: Rescue Mission seamlessly blends these two elements together in an effective VR journey with depth and a sense of wonder... especially when you’re trying to introduce it to a kid. </p>


<p><a href="https://whatoplay.com/critics/game-informer/">Game Informer</a> said that this game “feels like it came out of nowhere to quietly prove that those familiar genres can feel like new experiences with the aid of virtual reality.” They gave it a 9 out of 10. </p>

<p>By putting together VR and platforming, it was pushed into new lengths, especially when you’re trying to revolutionize the industry. Sony managed to do so with such confidence. And with the lack of good VR titles lately, this one is a must-buy for anyone who owns a PlayStation VR. A much-needed reprieve to life’s crazy misadventures. </p>

<h2>15. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/injustice-gods-among-us-ultimate-edition/">Injustice: Gods Among Us - Ultimate Edition</a></h2>

<p>When Injustice released in 2013, we thought there was nothing that's gonna be more exciting than seeing our favorite heroes and villains in the DC Universe duke it out it one stage. </p>

<p>Well, at least until this Ultimate Edition. With this, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/netherrealm-studios/">NetherRealm Studios</a> delivered the complete Injustice package. All of the DLC content came together. From over 40 signature skins to names like Lobo, Batgirl, Martian Manhunter, and even <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-360/mortal-kombat/">Mortal Kombat</a>'s Scorpion. But aside from all the downloadable stuff that could be bought before its release, the Ultimate Editions' appeal mostly came from the new challenges and STAR Labs missions that gave even old players fresh content to dive into. </p>

<h2>14. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/soulcalibur-vi/">Soulcalibur VI</a></h2>


<p><a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/bandai-namco-studios/">Bandai Namco</a> resurrects their weapon-based fighting series. As a reboot title, SoulCalibur 6 introduces plenty of changes to its mechanics that make it a more competitive, yet still accessible to new players.</p>

<p>A series known for their cameos--like Ezio Auditore in <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-360/soulcalibur-v/">SoulCalibur V</a>--6 gave the same honor to <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/cd-projekt-red/">CD Projekt Red</a>'s respected Witcher, Geralt of Rivia, whose style you could use in the crazily detailed character creator. But it’s where it truly shines is in their singleplayer campaign. Set in the 16th century, get hours of entertainment with its two-fold package of Soul Chronicle and Libra of Soul.</p>

<p>One of the most popular crossover series ever hit its peak on the PC with this updated, standalone, and all-around better version of <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-360/marvel-vs-capcom-3-fate-of-two-worlds/">Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds</a>. </p>

<p>
Ultimate adds 12 new playable characters to Fate of Two Worlds base 36 characters. These include Ghost Rider, Hawkeye, Strider, Firebrand, so much more. With these and the subsequent DLC characters, Ultimate was praised for the expanded character roster. </p>


<p>On top of that, it also solved many of Fate's online issues and enhanced visuals for a fresh new fighting experience. Marvel vs Capcom Infinite didn't quite, but at least we'll always have this. It has a playscore of 8.17.</p>


 
<h2>12. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/melty-blood-actress-again-current-code/">Melty Blood Actress Again Current Code</a></h2>


<p>This next game isn't just a visionary in terms of name-creation, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/melty-blood-actress-again-current-code/">French Bread</a>'s Melty Blood Actress is also one of the first to marry the unlike genres of visual novel and fighting games. </p>

<p>Waiting 15 years for a Western Release, this has been the fulfillment of many fans’ dreams. It features the same characters of Type Moon's adult-oriented visual novel, Tsukihime, albeit in a more wholesome manner. </p>


<p>The story doesn’t really matter all that much, as the game is commended mostly for its compelling, fast-paced fighting and diverse roster of 31, which includes the exclusives from the original PS2 version. It has a playscore of 8.18.</p>



<h2>11. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/tekken-7/">Tekken 7</a></h2>


<p>This entry took the world by storm when it released in 2017. It’s been the talk of the talk in Fighting Game Communities and a constant highlight stage for EVO.</p>


<p>Step in the seventh King of the Iron Fist tournament, and witness the end of the Mishima feud. Tekken 7 isn't the most innovative title, but it's elevated by bringing out the core of the series in terms of accessible and highly entertaining fighting. Aside from its wonderful visuals, Guilty Gear also has gained its reputation for its deep and complex mechanics.</p>

<p>Fights might be a little hard to find, this underground favorite is still a favorite with a score of 8.23.</p>



<h2>9. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/rivals-of-aether/">Rivals of Aether</a></h2>


<p>Fire, water, earth, and air collide in this elemental fighting game from indie developer <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/dan-fornace/">Dan Fornace</a>. Built on the base concepts of <a href="https://whatoplay.com/wii-u/super-smash-bros/">Super Smash Bros</a>, it gives PC fans the opportunity to take on that brand of fun, with an elemental, 1v1 twist.</p>

<p>Set in a world where elements are at war, take your pick from their array of champions and manipulate the four to score the victory in their various game modes. Rivals of Aether fleshes out Nintendo’s party fighting game and improving with advanced mechanics of dodge rolls, parries, and more.</p>

<p>It has a playscore  of 8.31 </p>

<h2>8. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/nidhogg/">Nidhogg</a></h2>

<p>In <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/messhof/">Messhof</a>'s quirky fighting game, simplicity is sophistication. Unlike all the other melee, body to body combat of the others in this list, Nidhogg lets you fight it to the death medieval style.</p>

<p>Channel out all your ripostes, thrusts, and other acrobatics for all the frenetic fencing you'll be taking part in. Despite the simplicity, its retro pixel art style serves Nidhogg well, allowing for its fluid fast-paced jousting.</p>

<p>For fighting without time limits and all the joys of disarms, sword-stealing, and stabbing, it has a playscore of 8.33.</p>


<h2>7. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/blazblue-chrono-phantasma-extend/">BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma EXTEND</a></h2>


<p>Arc System Work's third installment in what is considered the spiritual successor to their <a href="https://whatoplay.com/search?keywords=guilty%20gear">Guilty Gear series</a>. The wheel of fate continues to turn in this extended Chrono Phantasma version. There's a fresh wave of new faces, like Lambda 11 and Celica A Mercury, for a total of over 28 playable heroes each with their set of moves.</p>

<p>It also introduces the Overdrive mechanics which spices up the fighting experience, along with their additional story mode Remix Heart. There might've been some issues with the PC port, it has all the deep fighting fun as the console versions with a score of 8.33.</p>


<h2>6. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/naruto-ninja-storm-3-full-burst/">Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 Full Burst</a></h2>

<p>After all these years, Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 remains at the peak of the whole Naruto Shippudden fighting series. In its time, this particular entry from <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/cyberconnect2/">CyberConnect2</a> featured one of the most extensive character rosters. Play as your favorite ninjas and navigate their Story mode that pits you against the Uchiha clan. </p>

<p>The entry marked the return of Storm 2's epic boss battles, but Full Burst comes with even more exciting additions like added cinematics, costumes, and characters, and chapters. Extending its appeal to even non-fans of the anime, it has a playscore of 8.34.</p>


<h2>5. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/under-night-in-birth-exelate/">UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH Exe:Late</a></h2>


<p>Another Arc System Works entry, and definitely not the last. Under Night In-Birth, much like Melty Blood Actress, combines visual novel storytelling with fighting. </p>

<p>Its fighting style shares the same four-button style gameplay as other Arc System Works tiles. But, what lures you in is their flair for dramatic anime tropes spread across the mystery of the Hollow Night.</p>

<p>Some of its lineup of 20 characters won't be strangers to anyone who picked up the BlazBlue CrossTag Battle. Though it assumes familiarity with its lack of tutorials, it's a budget treat for anyone looking for a fast-paced fighter on their PCs. It has a playscore of 8.36.</p>


<h2>4. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/lethal-league/">Lethal League</a></h2>

<p>A game that deserves an award in originality. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/team-reptile/">Team Reptile</a>'s Lethal League is bound to be one of the most unique fighting games you'll ever come across.</p>

<p>In this competitive projectile fighter, you step into whatever arena of your choosing and bring out your bats for a battle of a lifetime. If hitting a ball sounds easy enough, each successive strike means adds more power and velocity. A few hits and you're out. </p>

<p>Lethal League maintains its funky aesthetic in its roster packed with eager batters, and crazed and caned candymen. Built on a solid premise, it's a total home run with a playscore of 8.4.</p>


<h2>3. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/dragon-ball-fighterz/">Dragon Ball FighterZ</a></h2>

<p>One of Arc System Works' latest games generated a lot of hype and thank god it delivered.</p>

<p>Dragon Ball is a series that's known for their dynamic cartoon fighting and Arc's style melds well with the spirit of the original anime. There's so much respect given to the source material and its made obvious by the careful rendition to each of the game's 24 characters. </p>

<p>Recreate Goku's epic fight with Frieza or try out unlikely combinations of the icons you grew up within their tag-team engagements. FighterZ is an intersection of depth, nostalgia, and accessibility and it has a playscore of 8.41.</p>


<h2>2. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/ultra-street-fighter-4/">Ultra Street Fighter IV</a></h2>


<p>While <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/street-fighter-iv/">Street Fighter 4</a> was good enough, this ultra version is a welcome upgrade packed with new characters, features, and everything nice. Ultra doesn’t just welcome a host of improvements, it also ushered the arrival of Rolento, Elena, and Decapre, making it an entry that’s both new and familiar.</p>

<p>Get to choose fighter editions for each match and make use of both your ultra combos with the new Ultra Combo Double. It may have had to overcome a few glitches and bugs, but it’s become one of the best fighting games of the generation, and it just keeps getting better. It has a playscore of 8.44.</p>


<h2>1. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/skullgirls-encore/">Skullgirls</a></h2>

<p>The unexpected winner in the PC's fight for the better fighting game. It might not be the most established or well-known fighter, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/lab-zero-games/">Lab Zero</a>'s Skullgirls definitely has the quality to back it up. </p>

<p>Combining anime, steampunk, and art-deco into one, it's also a game that's really easy on the eyes. Their eight characters may not be much, the creativity and detail poured into their styles and set moves drives home the quality of the whole package.</p>

<p>And aside from the surface level observations, Skullgirls also boasts punishing AI, accurate hitboxes, and a competitive online community, all of which are must-haves for fans of the fighting genre. It's earned its spot in the best of best, with a score of 8.62.</p>

<p>Relaxing is pretty much Himno's main goal. There aren't any enemies to defeat. It's a straight-up platformer in which you collect wisps, gain levels, and navigate through their dark dungeons with a variety of powerups. 
It controls take a little getting used to, but for its value, Himno’s flaws are very easy to overlook. It gets a provisional playscore of 8.83.</p>

<p>As a PvP real-time battle card, Minion Masters will be familiar to anyone who's ever played SUPERCELL's super popular Clash Royale. But Minion Masters one-ups their mobile counterpart with some really polished visuals. 
It almost feels like a game straight from Riot Games' studio, which is saying much considering it's by an independent Danish studio, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/betadwarf-entertainment/">betaDwarf Entertainment</a>.</p>

<p>As for gameplay, Minion Masters is easy to pick up. Just unleash the monsters in your hand on your opponent and pick the best strategy for surviving the waves ahead. Balance is a little unreliable these days, Minion Masters remains worth checking it out with a provisional rating of 9.</p>

<p>12 minutes is a short time but it's worth every second in HOME. It's a walking simulator that takes you through a series of procedurally generated scenes in which your interactions form the basis for a heartwarming about what home means to you. And there's always different poem waiting for you every time, depending on the journey you took.

<p>For some, the game's calm environment is ultimately enough to move them into reflecting on their lives, whether sad, happy, or hopeful. It's not exactly a full game, but HOME's message is something you can carry along with you throughout your days--and maybe that's enough. It has a playscore of 9.03.</p>

<p>More of a demo than an actual game, this Prologue to Osarion's indie adventure does give players a worthwhile look at what's to come.</p>

<p>Unsung Warriors is packed with both fun platforming and engaging combat. Set in a fictional 2D European Iron Age, its simple, cartoony art style might not win it any awards but it does work well in adding to the fun Iron Age atmosphere while also making it accessible to even the most low-end laptops and devices. And the local co-op is the perfect cherry on top.</p>

<p>Prologue is pretty solid for a demo and it fulfills its purpose of showcasing how promising their full release will be. It gets a score of 9.14.</p>

<h2>8. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/enderal-forgotten-stories/">Enderal: Forgotten Stories</a></h2>

<p><a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim/">Skyrim</a> was too good as a standalone title, so the modding community decided to make this fan-made mod to pay respect to <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/bethesda-game-studios/">Bethesda</a>’s award-winning RPG. </p>

<p>This total conversion mod has its own story and lore to tell, not to mention new Landscapes that could rival Skyrim’s vanilla launch. Its world, like its inspiration, is full of atmosphere, horrors, and wonder. With an overhauled gameplay and skill system, make your way across the treacherous medieval lands and learn about its unique cast of characters.</p>

<p>Of course, you need to have Skyrim in your library to play this game, so it’s not technically FREE per se. But come on, who doesn’t own Skyrim at this point? For a community-made game, it receives a provisional playscore of 9.15. </p>

<h2>7. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/coloring-game/">Coloring Game</a></h2>

<p>L. Stotch’s anti-stress game is what it is. It’s a coloring book. Animate the pixels by adding colors to each square inch. Once everything is in place, watch your creation come to life. </p>

<p>There is no real challenge here. You don’t go around beating bosses, complain about unfair hitboxes or rant about its difficulty. It’s a game made to de-stress.</p>

<p>A bizarre 2D platformer where you take control of a bee after being consumed by a bird. In a weird turn of events, the Bird’s internal organs aren’t really organs. In fact, it’s a mechanical factory where you do most of the puzzle-solving and gameplay. Don’t ask us why. </p>

<p>It is quirky at most, especially with its adorable hand-drawn art style. Enjoy its physics-based platformer levels with secrets hidden in every corner. </p>

<p>Meet other insect characters and escape from this crazy avian sweatshop. Compared to most of Steam’s FREE platformers, this one stands out the most. The game receives a score of 9.34.</p> 


<h2>5. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/mushroom-cats/">Mushroom Cats</a></h2>

<p>We talked about this game on our previous video and it continues to surprise us on how they made it to the list. As a simple point and click title with adorable cats, maybe that’s the point? </p>

<p>Set in the magical land of Toadstool, aid these furballs to survive the coming winter storm. Dress them up, give them cute hats and don’t let the cold be their doom. </p>

<p>There’s not much to the game, really. As a FREE title, it’s justified. Simply spend five minutes of your time bringing smiles to these feline furries. Who knows? We might see more of Toadstool in the paw-sible future.

What Never Was was praised for its emotional story, visuals and atmosphere. The only downside is that the game is only an hour long. A playscore of 9.42.</p>

<p>Every scene feels like a work of art and despite its somber tones, the vibrant colors offer a moment of respite to the fate of these two individuals. It has a provisional playscore of 9.46.</p>

However, the fun begins when you get to appreciate its great soundtrack and stellar particle effects. Every level offers a variety of challenges. Expect ridiculous twists and some difficulty spikes that might catch you off guard. </p>

There's still a lot of heroes to choose from, each with powers you can use in battle alongside your troops. It's all the casual strategy fun with less of the pay to win systems IGG was known for, giving it a provisional playscore of 8.79.</p>

Bound off walls, detonate barrels, and above all, protect the civilians. Since the sights never really go away, it's pretty much straightforward fun from the get go. <p>The survival game that failed to keep up with the trying times of the industry. 
What was once revered as one of the best early access titles on Steam… is now a shell of its former self. With the Battle Royale fad still alive and kicking, DayZ has lost its touch after spending almost 5 years in Early Access. </p>

<p>Fans are disappointed by <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/bohemia-interactive/">the Developers</a> lack of communication, and even response. Some players are even asking for their money back. It's an unfinished buggy mess and it’s a shame to see this game fall so down. A playscore of 6.11 on the PS4 and 5.95 on the Xbox One. </p>

<h2>4. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/pumped-bmx-pro/">Pumped BMX Pro</a></h2>

<p>Pumped BMX Pro looks like a smartphone game that got lost on the consoles. And that is not even the game's worst criticism. As with most driving games, physics and controls are absolutely essential. Unfortunately, that seems like BMX Pro's weakest point. The challenges of its many tracks are more of an exercise in frustration rather than enjoyment. </p>

<p>It might scratch that desperate Trials itch, but you may be better off with any other alternative. It has a score of 5.65.</p>

<p>The AC series has come a long way but it’s not without its shortcomings. </p>

<p>After Ezio’s wonderful send-off, it’s about time to finally save the world from its prophetic doomsday clock. The American Revolution awaits you in this pivotal moment in history. Hunt down Templars and change the course of time in this remastered version of the <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/assassins-creed-iii/">2012 classic</a>. 
Considered as one of the weakest of the AC titles in terms of scale and content, this Remastered doesn’t give enough justice to the already underwhelming entry. </p>

<p>Its messy optimization, technical issues, and “UPlay” are enough reasons for players to give this a measly score of a 5.53 on the PC. </p>

<h2>2. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/generation-zero/">Generation Zero on PC</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/generation-zero/">PlayStation 4</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/generation-zero/">Xbox One</a></h2>

<p>Not a lot of changes in the world of Worst Games. Still second in the running, Generation Zero's 1980s wasn't meant to be a scenic holiday but I'm sure it hardly meant to be as tedious as it is too.</p>

<p>Scenic though is pretty much the only positive response it received. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/avalanche-studios/">Avalanche Studios</a>' Generation Zero offers a beautiful open world to get lost in. What most reviewers hated is the sparse feeling you get from being in it. For a co-op focused survival, its lack of in-game chat makes even that a pain.</p>

<p>It was an imperfect release and it continues to be so with play scores of 5.1 on the PC, 6.32 on the PS4, and 5.83 on the Xbox One.</p>

<h2>1. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/left-alive/">Left Alive on PC</a> and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/left-alive/">PlayStation 4</a></h2>

<p>Another returning title. Three months later, Left Alive has been seemingly Left Dead by the folks at <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/square-enix/">Square Enix</a>. </p>

<p>When it first came out, it was mostly disappointment that brought to its place at the very bottom. Fans looked forward to this supposed return to the Front Mission universe headed by veterans of Armored Core and Metal Gear. All we got though was a mech action game that had nothing to show for except its clunky combat and unreliable AI. </p>

<p>There were hopes of changes last time. They're all but dashed at this point and we'll surely be seeing this one at the next.</p>


<h2>Best</h2>

<h2>10. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/katana-zero/">Katana Zero on PC</a> and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/switch/katana-zero/">Nintendo Switch</a></h2>

The beauty of retro-style games is it harkens back to a nostalgic era for gamers while filling it with the meticulous detail of today's technology. This is exactly what happens in <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/askiisoft/">Askiisoft</a>'s Katana Zero. 
It follows the pattern of most of <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/devolver-digital/">Devolver Digital</a> titles. It’s polished. It’s stylish, and with its own rock and roll embedded into it. </p>

<p>Katana Zero's rock and roll comes not just from its samurai gameplay, but also from its clever cyber noir narrative, fitting soundtracks, and it’s satisfying and flashy combat. 
The reception has been more than positive on the PC with 8.97 and a provisional playscore of 8.32 on the Switch.

<p>The retro renaissance has also breached first-person shooter territory. Fans of <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/doom/">Doom</a> might claim this title as their own, but Amid Evil is mostly rooted in classic fantasy FPSs like Heretic and Hexen. Despite that, any fan of Doom could still enjoy its mishmash of monsters and mystical weapons, spread across 7 EVIL worlds.</p>
<p><a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/indefatigable/">Indefatigable</a>'s AMID EVIL released just a few months after the similarly acclaimed <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/dusk/">DUSK</a>. With the same and perhaps better retro FPS gameplay the comparisons were inevitable. </p>

<p>Still, AMID EVIL is a worthy love letter to its inspirations, taking on the blocky look well without the clunkiness of its age. It gets a playscore of 8.89 on the PC.</p>

<h2>8. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/supraland/">Supraland</a></h2>

<p>The first thing you can say about Supraland is that they're pretty honest from the get-go, revealing their miniscule environment compared to those of <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/fortnite/">Fortnite</a>'s and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim/">Skyrim</a>'s. </p>

<p>Supraland proves that Size Doesn't Matter. Within 9 square meters and 30 hours of gameplay, it packs an overwhelming amount of charm. From its inviting atmosphere and adorable sprites to its fantastic Portal-inspired puzzles and Metroid-style exploration. </p>

<p>Its story of Reds vs Blues might prove thin for some, but it doesn't matter too much when there's plenty more to discover around every nook and corner. It earns a well-deserved rating of 8.79.</p>

<h2>7. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/baba-is-you/">Baba Is You on PC</a> and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/switch/baba-is-you/">Nintendo Switch</a></h2>

<p><a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/indie/" title="List of all indie PC games">Indie games</a> are always making do with limited resources and that's when all sorts ideas come out from the woodwork.</p>

<p>Already winning the top spot in this year's PC Indies list, Baba Is You is a wellspring of creativity. The only rule is that there aren't any at all. Baba Is You challenges you to think outside the box and manipulate the world as you see fit. By just moving around the blocks and letters at your disposal, you can become and change whatever you need to win the puzzles.</p>

<p>Between getting the freedom to explore and experiment and that lightbulb moment at the end of things, Baba is You is one rewarding experience after another.</p>

<h2>6. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/bloodstained-ritual-of-the-night/">Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night on PS4</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/bloodstained-ritual-of-the-night/">Xbox One</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/bloodstained-ritual-of-the-night/">PC</a></h2>

<p>There are games that pay tribute to the classics. Bloodstained is more than that. Koji Igarashi turns vision into flesh once more, and it's something that continues to impress. Play as Miriam, take hold of her many demonic abilities, and vanquish all of the castle's paranormal forces.</p>

<p>It's a whole new universe, complete with different lore and characters. But, everything will feel familiar to any fan of Igarashi's iconic Castlevania titles.</p>

<p>Putting aside the abysmal port on the Switch, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/inti-creates/">Inti Creates</a> Bloodstained is a success with 8.88 on the PS4, 8.79 on the Xbox One, and 9.11 on the PC.</p>


<h2>5. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/kingdom-hearts-3/">Kingdom Hearts III on PS4</a> and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/kingdom-hearts-3/">Xbox One</a></h2>

<p>After a series of major delays and technical challenges, Kingdom Hearts III is finally out, and it’s been 6 months since then.</p>

<p>A decade in the works, this third installment adds more Disney characters into the fray while sacrificing Square’s iconic Final Fantasy ensemble. Boo. Follow Sora and his band of Disney brothers as they use the power of friendship to stop the darkness from corrupting the hearts of man.</p>

<p>Travel to majestic Disney and Pixar worlds including Toy Story, Tangled, Monsters Inc, Big Hero 6 and even Frozen. It’s a hotpot of childlike wonder mixed with a stellar hack and slash combat and an emotional story that’s been with us for almost 2 decades. It receives a playscore of 8.88 on the PS4 and 8.14 on the X1. </p>

<p>2019 is the year where people finally appreciate the beauty and depth of card games. </p>

<p><a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/mega-crit-games/">Mega Crit Games</a>’ Slay the Spire is among the many CG’s that survived the trend. Mixing turn-based strategy, cards, and rogue-like into one title, this ever-changing gauntlet tests your luck and your deck building skills. With each level randomly generated, make do with the limited cards you have at your disposal and fend off a horde of ghastly enemies. </p>

<p>It’s worth the asking price. It’s praised for its simple design, accessibility, and best of all, its high replay value. Now that’s how you make a card game. Valve, take notes. It receives a playscore of 8.75 on the PS4, 9.07 on the PC, and a provisional playscore of 8.41 on the Switch.</p>

<p>The fresh <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/fromsoftware/">FromSoftware</a> game that gave a number of players and gaming journalists a hard time. 
Out with the Gothic landscapes and in with the beautiful oriental Sengoku Era temples. SEKIRO challenges new and old players with its ridiculous boss fights, unfair hitboxes, and un-Dark Souls-like combat. </p>

<p>At least in this game, you get lives to rise back up and maybe mess it up again. Parry, strike, and use a variety of Ninja and Samurai skills to turn the tide of every battle.  </p>

<p>One thing’s for sure about this game: Timing is everything. As cheesy as it may sound, make your sword an extension of yourself. There are only two words we could tell you about this game: Git gud. It has a playscore of 8.88 on the PS4, 8.44 on the X1, and 8.83 on the PC. </p>



<h2>2. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/devil-may-cry-5/">Devil May Cry 5 on PS4</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/devil-may-cry-5/">Xbox One</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/devil-may-cry-5/">PC</a></h2>

<p>Another much-awaited title 10 years in the making. This fifth major entry to the Devil May Cry franchise was a long time coming. </p>

<p>Return to the demon-whooping adventures of Dante and Nero alongside a mysterious new character as they stop an evil tree from taking over the human world. 
But killing demons is not without style. The game’s main objectives aren’t just killing them, it’s about how stylishly you can takedown. </p>

<p>With a new and improved combat system, you get to finally flex those combos in the most badass way possible. There’s no doubt about its huge success. This legendary hack and slash title has one of the best combat in a videogame ever. It receives a playscore of 9.04 on the PS4, 8.83 on the Xbox One, and 8.89 on the PC. </p>

<p>It’s hard not to praise <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/capcom/">CAPCOM</a> for their impressive games lately. After a series of stellar titles, the horror game that defined the genre is coming back and it’s finally showing its true form.
Join Claire and Leon as they go on a terrible first-day adventure in the mysterious town of Raccoon City. </p>

<p>In this re-imagined title, shoot down zombie dogs, zombie citizens and run away from a hulking brute wearing a fedora determined to crush your head in each passing minute. 
A solid remake and a worthy addition to CAPCOM’s comeback. It receives a playscore of 9.28 on the PS4, 8.79 on the Xbox One, and 9.11 on the PC. </p>

<h2>1. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/greedfall/">Greedfall on PC</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/greedfall/">PS4</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/greedfall/">Xbox One</a></h2>

<p>We're getting a new singleplayer RPG experience from Sony, this time under the care of <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/spiders/">Spider Studio</a>. They don't exactly have the best repertoire and...it kinda shows in the trailers. The graphics and lipsync don't really compare to high tech realism of most modern titles.</p>

<p>Where hope lies though is in the game's 17th century fantasy narrative. It's coming out on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on September 10th.</p>


<h2>2. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/rune/">Rune II</a></h2>

<p>What's in a name? From Rune to <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/rune-ragnarok/">Rune: Ragnarok</a>, we come, finally to RUNE II. What's certain is that we're getting a new title from the RUNE universe under Human Head Studios. The fact that it's an Epic Games Store exclusive might be a little annoying to some fans though.</p>

<p>But, co-founder Chris Rhinehart does offer some ease in their continued updates. 
Comparing the new trailers to their Pre-alpha, the Viking adventures are definitely getting better.  We’ll just have to sit back till its release sometime this summer.</p>


<h2>3. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/oninaki/">Oninaki on PC</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/oninaki/">PlayStation 4</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/oninaki/">Xbox One</a></h2>

<p>We were already drooling over this game and we'll drool about it a little bit more. If you haven't heard, the reason this game looks so good is, one, it’s  a <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/square-enix/">Square Enix</a> RPG.</p>

<p>And two, it’s under the direction of Takashi Tokita of <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/chrono-trigger/">Chrono Trigger</a> fame. Play as the watcher and use the powers of the lost souls to aid you in your rescue missions. It's set to release on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on August 22nd.</p>


<h2>4. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/children-of-morta/">Children of Morta on PC</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/children-of-morta/">PlayStation 4</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/switch/children-of-morta/">Xbox One</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/children-of-morta/">Nintendo Switch</a></h2>

<p><a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/indie/" title="List of all PC indie games">Indie games</a> are at it again with their emotional attachment to its characters, story and music. Children of Morta is no different.</p>

<p>Stand up against the evil corruption and defend the Mountain Morta from its doom. 
Mainly focused on a single family, control various characters with unique and inherited abilities depending on their personalities. </p>

<p>It’s taking the Family Tree concept  to its literal sense. 
It just had its Demo released and players are enjoying the games visuals and combat. Coming this 3rd of September on the PC, PS4, X1 and Switch. </p>


<h2>5. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/ni-no-kuni-wrath-of-the-white-witch-remastered/">Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Remastered on PC</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/ni-no-kuni-wrath-of-the-white-witch-remastered/">PS4</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/switch/ni-no-kuni-wrath-of-the-white-witch-remastered/">Switch</a></h2>


<p>One of the best looking titles in 2011 is getting a Remastered version for the modern consoles and PC. Finally! 
 This Studio Ghibli crafted adventure is oozing with beautiful art, a fantastic story and engaging combat.</p> 

<p>Players who didn’t have a PS3 back then can finally experience this classic in better quality. 
It’s coming this September 20! </p>

<h2>6. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/the-surge-2/">The Surge 2 on PC</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/the-surge-2/">PlayStation 4</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/the-surge-2/">Xbox One</a></h2>

<p>Futuristic sci-fi action is what you get in this improved sequel Deck13’s violent high-tech RPG. 
While the first game suffered from mixed reviews, this sequel turns it up a notch with a more ambitious setting and gameplay upgrades. </p>

<p>Nothing will be as satisfying than building your own Exo-Rig and taking down a massive horde of enemies. 
Coming this 24th of September on the PC, PS4 and X1. </p>


<h2>7. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/the-legend-of-heroes-trails-of-cold-steel-iii/">The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III</a></h2> 


<p><a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/the-legend-of-heroes-trails-of-cold-steel-ii/">Trails of Cold Steel II</a> just released and already, we can all rest assured that the third installment is on its way. In it, you'll play as Rean Schwarzer and fulfill his role as a new military professor. </p>

<p>Trails of Cold Steel III will continue a year and a half after the second game... and this chapter will put more focus on speeding battles and making it a seamless experience on the whole. 
The XSEED localization might raise some eyebrows, but what’s important is its coming to North America as a PS4 exclusive this September 24th.

<h2>8. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/code-vein/">Code Vein on PC</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/code-vein/">PlayStation 4</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/code-vein/">Xbox One</a></h2>

<p>It's been two years since its been announced and their souls-like direction has only gotten clearer and clearer. Their latest video showcases the power of the Sword, a fancy item which you can use you chop down all of the game's gnarly looking demons. </p>

<p>Code Vein is bringing Dark Souls action RPG to its true Japanese aesthetics and we're gonna see it live when it comes out on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on September 27th.</p>

<h2>9. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/the-outer-worlds/">The Outer Worlds on PC</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/the-outer-worlds/">PS4</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/the-outer-worlds/">Xbox One</a></h2>

<p>When it comes to RPGs, everybody knows Obsidian Entertainment. The fruit    doesn't fall too far from the tree of their previous achievements. Outer Worlds channels Terry Gilliam in a story of corporate dystopia.</p>

<p>On paper, it's all we ever expected with witty branching dialog, wacky weapons, and a lot of role-playing choices. 
The animations....could use a bit of work. Coming to the Epic Games Store, the PS4, and Xbox One this October 25th.</p>


<h2>10. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/switch/pokemontm-sword-and-pokemontm-shield-double-pack/">Pokemon Sword & Shield</a></h2>


<p>This first core Pokemon game for the Switch. It's the thing we were all excited for. 
But, with recent developments, like not getting to complete the Pokedex, there's been some disappointments there too.</p>

<p>On the whole, Sword and Shield is still a promising title. Not only are you getting new Starters,  you're getting a whole new set of Pokemon too. With Dynamaxing and Gigantamaxing, the scale is just getting bigger...and bigger. It's releasing soon on Nov 15th.</p>


<h2>11. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/trials-of-mana/">Trials of Mana on PC</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/switch/trials-of-mana/">Switch</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/trials-of-mana/">PS4</a></h2>


<p>From not ever getting a western localization, the fans of Mana are getting spoiled with a fancy makeover.
So not only did we get the original version of the third Seiken Densetsu entry in the June Collection of Mana, we're also going to be treated to an improved remake.</p>

<p>The feedback to the trailer is positive so far and we can't wait for its Early 2020 release on the PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.</p>


<h2>12. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/dragon-ball-game-project-z/">Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot on PC</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/dragon-ball-game-project-z/">PlayStation 4</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/dragon-ball-game-project-z/">Xbox One</a></h2>


<p>We first knew this game as Dragon Ball Project Z. Officially called Kakarot, Bandai Namco makes sure we know that the highlight is going to be Goku and his arc in the Dragon Ball Z series. </p>

<p>Being the most popular arc, you've probably seen and played their moments more than once already. 
Hopefully, with the revitalized visuals and improved action RPG gameplay, it'll be worth revisiting the Dragon Ball quest once more.  It's coming out in PC, PS4, and Xbox One early next year.</p>


<h2>13. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/final-fantasy-viii-remastered/">Final Fantasy VIII: Remastered on PC</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/final-fantasy-viii-remastered/">PS4</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/switch/final-fantasy-viii-remastered/">Switch</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/final-fantasy-viii-remastered/">Xbox One</a></h2>

<p>A surprise for everyone last E3, but the world is always a little happier with more Final Fantasy. 
This might be Square Enix's way of filling our lives until the very anticipated Final Fantasy VII Remake. And we'll take it. </p>

<p>It's just a simple remaster but it means you get to experience the turn-based action and adventure of Squall and his friends with new eyes. It already has its ESRB rating so it'll probably arrive on your PCs and consoles sometime very soon.</p>

<h2>14. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/vampire-the-masquerade-bloodlines-2/">Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 on Xbox One</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/vampire-the-masquerade-bloodlines-2/">PC</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/vampire-the-masquerade-bloodlines-2/">PS4</a></h2>

<p>When we say "classic" RPGs, in a way, you can't get as classic as <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/vampire-the-masquerade-bloodlines/">Vampire: The Masquerade</a>. Well, cult classic at least. Far from its pen and paper origins, it's also--we hope--farther away from their 2004 digital debut.</p>

<p>Aside from the clunky facial animations, everyone's pretty happy about it. Continue your vampire adventures in 21st century Seattle and navigate earthly afterlife with their many dialogs and interactions when it comes out first quarter of 2020.</p>

<h2>15. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/torchlight-frontiers/">Torchlight Frontiers on PC</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/torchlight-frontiers/">PS4</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/torchlight-frontiers/">Xbox One</a></h2>

<p>Relive the glory days of your 8 year old self in this rekindled flame of the Torchlight experience. 
Frontiers finally embraces the game’s well sought-out online mechanic.</p>

<p>We can finally team up with our friends and other players in a shared, vibrant world. With all new classes to choose from and a huge map to discover, it feels like 2009 all over again. Coming sometime this year on the PC, PS4 and X1. </p>

<h2>16. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/final-fantasy-vii-remake/">Final Fantasy VII: Remake</a></h2>

<p>Remakes and Japan work well together. The next step of Square’s most celebrated Final Fantasy entry is nearing its release and its list of new content is fueling our hype. </p>

<p>Exchanging turn-based gameplay for slick hack and slash combat, control Cloud and the rest of the FF gang and liberate Midgar from the corrupt Shinra. Magic, huge swords, lovely ladies and memorable characters, this Remake is bound to get more beautiful once it comes out on PS4 on March 3 next year.</p>

<h2>17. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/cyberpunk-2077/">Cyberpunk 2077 on PC</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/cyberpunk-2077/">Xbox One</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/cyberpunk-2077/">PlayStation 4</a></h2>

<p>The hype becomes more palpable in each passing day as <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/cd-projekt-red/">CD Projekt Red continues</a> to tease us with new info about their ambitious RPG title. 2077 has everything. That includes Keanu Reeves, flying cars, neon lights and evil corporations slowly taking over the world. </p>

<p>Staying true to its table-top roots, make your own character and choose your own adventure as you hustle and bustle your way in this brutal technopathic society in stylish first person combat. We still have a city to burn, so brace yourselves once the game comes out this April 16, 2020 for the PC, X1 and PS4. </p>

<h2>18. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/griftlands/">Griftlands</a></h2>

<p><a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/klei-entertainment/">Klei Entertainment</a> is moving on from their gothic undertones and into a science fiction card game. Griftlands combine two headache-inducing genres in one package: rogue-like and strategy. </p>

<p>Negotiate your way through a broken extraterrestrial world by crafting your own deck. Just like Slay the Spire, every level gets increasingly difficult and maybe, just maybe, your patience is getting thin. This is a fresh title from Klei and for any fans of the strategy genre, this is something you should look forward to. Coming this June 2020 on the PC. </p>

<h2>19. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/wasteland-3/">Wasteland 3 on PC</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/wasteland-3/">PS4</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/wasteland-3/">XBox One</a></h2>


<p>The icy hell of post-apocalyptic Colorado isn’t as friendly as it was before in this much-awaited installment to the Wasteland series. We’ve come a long way from its 1988 release. As a fan-funded project, it’s never easy.</p>

<p>The party-based RPG is stepping up their game with asynchronous multiplayer, solid single-player experience and strategic turn-based gameplay.  That means whether you want a friend, or not, you still get to taste the horrors and atmosphere of this frozen wasteland. Still in development, the game is slated for a 2020 release on the PC, PS4 and X1, let’s hope the wait isn’t that long. </p>

<h2>20. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/digimon-survive/">Digimon Survive on PC</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/digimon-survive/">PlayStation 4</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/digimon-survive/">Xbox One</a></h2>

Digimon are still alive and relevant in the year 2020. Bandai Namco really knows their player base well enough to offer a more mature story with impactful decision making moments. As the protagonists, you’re stuck to survive in another world.</p>

<p>Sticking to their Digivolution mechanic, your choices throughout the story will greatly affect    your Digimon’s growth. It’s supposed to come out this July, but it was later delayed to 2020. Coming to the PS4, X1, Switch and PC. </p>

<h2>21. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/persona-5-royal/">Persona 5: The Royal</a></h2>

<p>The enhanced version of the PlayStation 4’s most beloved JRPG title is back for more good music and heart-stealing. No, it’s not a battle royale game. The Royal is no regular re-release. It’s a standalone expansion for <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/persona-5/">Persona 5</a>.</p>

<p>Giving you access to new storylines, Confidants and even a new playable character to date and maybe fool around with. It’s still the same Persona 5 with the same story and ending, but with added depth to some of its missing points from the original title. It comes out sometime this 2020. </p>


<h2>22. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/haven/">Haven</a></h2>

<p>Haven is a co-op adventure where you and a partner can go Adam and Eve and survive a harsh new planet. 
Essentially a game made for two lovers, or maybe friends, it could be played in Solo if =you’re really that lonely. This hostile environment has no room for weakness.</p>

<p>Go hand in hand with your partner as you stop foes from tearing your love apart. Sounds cheesy on paper, but the game actually does justice to that concept as far as we can tell. Coming this 2020.</p>

<p>It’s been awhile since we had a new Tales game set in another world with new characters. Tales Of Arise promises to be as ambitious as their last entries. Mixing anime tropes and hardcore combat, Arise doesn’t slow down with their flashy special effects and memorable characters.</p>

<p>Giving us the right balance of gameplay and story in its divided world. 
Details are pretty scarce at the moment, but the game comes out sometime this 2020 on the PC, PS4 and X1 so stay tuned. </p>

<h2>24. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/nioh-2/">NiOh 2</a></h2>


<p>The game that was supposed to be Japanese <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/dark-souls-prepare-to-die-edition/">Dark Souls</a> until FromSoftware made their own “Japanese Dark Souls” called <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/sekiro-shadows-die-twice/">Sekiro</a>. NiOh 2 will be a step in the right direction.</p>

<p>It just had its Alpha Test recently, showcasing the graphical and gameplay improvements of the game and let me tell you, it’s looking good so far. Of  course, the game is still tough, and it feels like you just want to throw your controller hoping to kill the boss that owned you 10 times already. There’s no way they’re nerfing difficulty. No release date yet unfortunately. </p>


<h2>25. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/mount-and-blade-ii-bannerlord/">Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord</a></h2>

<p>Okay. We've already been waiting more than seven years, so what's a bit more, right?</p>

<p>Joking aside, getting an actual release date for this game that's seemingly been in development for literally forever is still unlikely.  BUT, last March 29, we did get news of a coming closed BETA for the multiplayer aspect of this long-awaited RPG. So, it does look like things ARE happening here.</p> 

<p>We'll just have to see where this very small lead takes us. We are patiently waiting with you.</p>

<p>For anyone looking forward to the latest on their yearly derbys and championships, here’s our list of fifteen racing games to look forward to.</p>

<p>We’ve seen all kinds of racing games from stock cars to F1s. You know what we don’t get enough of? TRUCKS. And if you think this is a joke, you’d be wrong. The FIA European Truck Racing Championship is a legit AF brand complete with real-life tracks, trucks, and racers. </p>

<p>In this installment, you’ll hopefully get to meet them all. Drive the big boys through 5 singleplayer modes, and 3 multiplayer modes, as the Championship’s 20 best teams. A whole new experience for racing fans, it’s coming out on the PC and consoles this July. </p>

<h2>2. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/mxgp-2019/">MXGP 2019 on PC</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/mxgp-2019/">PS4</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/mxgp-2019/">Xbox One</a></h2>

<p>It’s another year, and another title for all you moto fans out there. While it’s always a happy day to be getting a new moto title,  these days, MXGP hasn’t exactly had the best reputation. When it comes to graphics, their latest gameplay preview is looking pretty good.</p>

<p>However, fans have been waiting on MXGP to put more focus on the much awaited ruts feature. It doesn’t look they’ve improved too much on that regard. If you’re a player on PC, PS4, and Xbox One you’ll have to wait and see this August 27th.</p>

<h2>3. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/wrc-8-fia-world-rally-championship/">WRC 8 on PC</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/wrc-8-fia-world-rally-championship/">PS4</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/wrc-8-fia-world-rally-championship/">Xbox One</a></h2>

<p>After skipping 2018, the official game for the World Rally Championship is back. What with the not-so awesome ratings of their last game, WRC 8 is under a lot of pressure to perform. </p>

<p>From the looks of the trailer, it’s good, with visuals that border on realism. With every racing game hitting the mark on those terms, it’s hard to see how WRC is going to compete. It’s one of the main criticisms of the series: it doesn’t quite measure up to the rest in the rally game market. Hopefully, with dynamic weather systems and improved career modes, this comeback will prove well worth the investment. It’s coming out on PC and consoles on Sep 3rd, 2019.</p>

There’s a new NASCAR Heat title coming and honestly the expectations aren’t high. Monster Games is still handling this installment and in the first look, we can definitely see a lot of improvements on the graphics side.</p>

What most people are wondering though is if the improvements stretch out beyond face value and into the physics too--one of the primary gripes against the NASCAR series. Where accuracy is concerned, we know HEAT 4 is gonna bring us the best in NASCAR racing and its coming on Sep 13th, 2019.</p>

<h2>5. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/grid/" title="GRID on PC">GRID on PC</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/grid/" title="GRID on PS4">PlayStation 4</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/grid/" title="GRID on Xbox One">Xbox One</a></h2>

<p>While we're on the subject of comebacks, here’s a good one. This will be the latest entry to the TOCA subseries, with the last title being GRID: Autosport way back in 2014. The good news is Codemasters is still heading this production, so the expectations are pretty high, especially with the moderate success of the previous installment.</p>
<p>Grid will be developed under the consultation of famed Formula One racer, Fernanando Alonso, and will feature cars from GT Le Mans. Codemasters are one of the racing masters, and we're looking forward to another title that balances accessibility and realism on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One this October 11th.</p>

<h2>6. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/overpasstm/">Overpass on PC</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/overpasstm/">Xbox One</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/overpasstm/">PS4</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/switch/overpasstm/">Nintendo Switch</a></h2>

<p>The racing game that takes ‘all-terrain’ in its literal form. Drive on water? Sure. How about a stack of logs? No problem. Overpass has it covered. Make a deal with nature as you take control a number of buggies in a quest to finish a number of course s in a short time. Sounds easy, but you have to consider the game’s realistic physics and multiple pathways.</p> 

<p>With over 20 vehicles to choose from and 40 demanding tracks, things are about to get real challenging when you realize that there are roads that you couldn’t really travel. Coming this 15th of October on the PC, X1, PS4 and Switch. </p>


<h2>7. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/formula-fusion/" title="Pacer on Xbox One">Pacer on Xbox One</a> and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/formula-fusion/" title="Pacer on PS4">PlayStation 4</a></h2>

<p>This is a far cry from the other, more realism-based titles on this list but its beautiful nonetheless.Pacer doesn't deal with cars or the laws of physics. Instead, it's got a lot more creative freedom, bringing us the thrills of anti-gravity racing.</p>

<p>Fly off into the future of 2075 and customize your own hovercraft to race smoothly along their 6 race modes and 8 different tracks. Unlike realistic racing that relies on skill, Pacer adds another layer of competition with weapons like energy bolts, mines, and so much more. </p>

<p>It's leaving its PC Early Access roots as Formula Fusion, Pacer is officially coming out sometime this year with free updates for existing Steam users and a first entry to the PS4 and Xbox One.

<h2>8. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/electro-ride/">Electro Ride</a></h2>

<p>This game's fighting against an image of a gray Russia with an alternate history set in a neon-filled Moscow. Electro Ride isn't hiding its arcade-ness from anyone. There's a pretty elaborate backstory at play here where you'll get to ride through a still socialist Eastern Bloc padded with 80s pinks and purples. 
</p>

<p>It's all about the night races in Electro Ride, and you get to choose between carving your path in night racing championships, breaking your own records, or challenging friends for the high scores. If you're in any way interested in neon and bringing down the capitalist underbelly of socialist moscow, you can look forward to this game on your PCs sometime in 2019.

<p>Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the NFS franchise, things are about to get more heated as the anarchic street racers continue their shenanigans. It’s unfortunate that they weren’t around at this year’s E3, but hey, at least we know the game is finally confirmed.</p>

<p>Prepare to piss off more cops as a street racer that aims to revitalise the disparity between these two groups in an eternal urban conflict. Too bad that’s the only thing we know about this game. No news about its release date yet, but their aiming for sometime in 2019.</p> 

<h2>10. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/circuit-superstars/">Circuit Superstars on PC</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/circuit-superstars/">PS4</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/switch/circuit-superstars/">Switch</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/circuit-superstars/">Xbox One</a></h2>

<p>Circuit Superstars dips us into the beauty of arcade racing. Arcade as it is though, it's nothing to snub your nose at, especially since it's been described by engadget as the "Forza" microracing. Engagdet also likened its top-down perspective and cartoon visuals to Codemasters' Micromachines. While the last Micromachines didn't do so hot, Circuit Superstars is shaping up pretty well.

<p>Already it seems more graphically advanced. Its physics looks promising than most, and its gameplay that includes PvP and pit stop management is enticing to say the least. If you're excited, you can hopefully find on PC and console stores in 2020.

<h2>11. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/tt-isle-of-man-2/" title="Isle of Man 2 PC">TT Isle Of Man 2 on PC, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/tt-isle-of-man-2/" title="Isle of Man 2">PlayStation 4</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/tt-isle-of-man-2/" title="Isle of Man 2">Xbox One</a></h2>

<p>One of the most dangerous sporting events in the world gets another installment to their motorsport racing title. This time, they’re trying to live up to its reputation. In this latest entry, the devs promised that anyone can finally get a real taste of what riders pull off during these courses.
</p>
<p>There’s not enough details as of the moment. The game’s main focus is improving the ‘riding experience’. Unfortunately, no release date yet. However, there will be more info in the coming months since the game is scheduled to come out this 2020. 
</p>

<h2>12. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/gran-turismo-7/">Gran Turismo 7</a></h2>

<p>One of the granddaddy’s of Sony’s racing scene is back, but there’s still so much stuff to do before we get to taste burnt rubber. There’s really not much information about this game yet, but rumors are buzzing saying that this title will be coming out on the PlayStation 5 as a launch title.

<p>Polyphony, the developers, are still hard at work creating additional content for Gran Turismo Sport, so it’s gonna be awhile before we get our hands on this elusive GT7. No release date yet. 
</p>

<h2>13. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/project-cars-3/">Project CARS 3 on PC</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/project-cars-3/">PS4</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/project-cars-3/">Xbox One</a></h2>

<p>Yes, this beautiful-looking motorsport racing simulator is still getting a threequel, and it’s looking pretty ambitious so far.</p> 

<p>Still very early in pre-production, Slightly Mad Studios promises a more focused and fun driving experience compared to the seriousness of most of the racing games on this list. They’re not taking the sandbox element of their previous games but it is shifting to something promising that their ‘simulator’ genre can handle. 
</p>
<p>Too bad there aren’t any gameplay footage or trailers available at the moment and obviously no release date yet. 
</p>


<h2>14. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/gtr-3/">GTR 3</a></h2>

<p>After months of development silence, the guys and girls at Simbin Studios’ is back into business with their next racing installment. Running on the Unreal Engine 4, expect the visuals to completely blow you away. 
</p>
<p>Aside from its huge graphical overhaul, the game’s day to night transition is as dynamic as ever with environmental effects that will test your skills on the road. GTR 3 still continues the tradition of including official licenses, which means better and expensive cars are gonna show up anytime soon. The game has no release date yet. 
</p>

<h2>15. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/drift19/">Drift19</a></h2>

<p>Every racing game is a direct competition to the other titles sharing the same set of rules Drift19 tries to up their ante in this realistic and serious drifting simulator.

<p>Putting into focus the history of what “Drift” really means, ready yourself as you customize classic drift cars and tune them to perfection.
</p>
<p>Compete in various challenges and events as you flex your hard-earned machine and put them into the dusty tracks. It has enough customizable features so spending hours and hours in the garage is no surprise. No release date yet, but it’s coming to the PC soon.
