Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 lands with a quality combination featuring multiplayer, Zombies, and the new Blackout battle royale mode. It's a clean, polished package of multiplayer goodness all around. The lack of single-player campaign still hurts, but for some, it probably won't be missed.

Black Ops 4 feels like one of the strongest Call of Duty entries to come along in years. Despite not having a solo campaign or some of the past games' more bombastic mechanics, Treyarch has proved the adage that "less is more." And this game's "less" is good enough to keep me waiting around for "more."

I hope that Treyarch and Activision see this as a new jumping off point, with frequent updates to add new experiences and maps to Blackout and the other modes. But we’ll see just how much the Call of Duty community appreciates what Treyarch has done.

Black Ops 4 brings a lot of changes to the series. Whether or not they're good changes is a personal choice. I found them mostly great changes. I like the promotion of teamwork. Making specialists that synergize with each other to get you to work as a team takes the game to another level altogether. While its not all praise, the game does have some downfalls.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is a game that looks at the entire first-person shooter genre, past and present, takes all the best ideas, and assembles them into what feels like the easiest to recommend shooter I have ever played. The only caveat to that recommendation is that some gamers will find themselves absolutely ignoring two thirds of what the game has to offer, and that makes me wonder if a different model of monetization would have been better suited for what feels like a collection of three different games.

Black Ops 4’s Zombies is the showcase of a confident team that has iterated and improved the formula they created. The addition of a tutorial, a more streamlined single player experience, and a wealth of match customisation shows Treyarch wants everyone to experience what the studio has been perfecting for the last decade. And with the 10 year anniversary of Call of Duty Zombies looming, there’s never been a better time to grab some friends, chug an elixir, and see how long you can survive.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 fires on all cylinders and hits every target with immense precision. This is the peak of zombies, one of the best battle royale experiences in the genre, and one of the most fluid, engaging, and tactical Call of Duty multiplayer modes to date. Even with the removal of a traditional single-player campaign, Black Ops 4 feels like you're paying $60 for a game that you could value at $100 or more.

Black Ops 4 is what it says on the back of the box, and little more, but the weapons are fun to use (particularly Prophet’s shock rifle, which never gets old) and its lighter, faster take on battle royale is best-in-class, at least at this early juncture for the genre. So even though nothing about it is surprising, this year's CoD still gives me what I want after 15 years of blasting through the series: all-adrenaline, with guns that are a joy to use. That's good enough for me.

I definitely didn’t expect to consider the multiplayer as the best mode but here we are. Treyarch has knocked it out of the park and it makes me very excited for the upcoming eSports season. Call of Duty’s first attempt at battle royale isn’t bad either, but I know I’ll be going back to Fortnite for my regular battle royale fix before long.

Black Ops 4’s multiplayer lets players be more tactical without sacrificing the excitement of engagements. The reworked health system and Specialists offer great, mostly balanced tools that allow for more creative playstyles and cater to strategic teams and lone wolves alike. Just about every weapon class in Black Ops 4's arsenal feels like a viable option, too, though automatic weapons are expectedly as popular as they have been in the past.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 provides players a content triple threat that's hard to beat in today's market. Hundreds of hours in classic multiplayer modes won't make you a Zombies expert, and being able to massacre the undead won't get you any Blackout wins. This is a game that could truly suck thousands of hours from everyone who picks it up, even those who've been on the fence about the series for years.

In lieu of significant innovation, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout instead presents a remarkably polished and intuitive take on the basic battle royale formula with a first-person shooter focus. Everything, from the creative perks and equipment to the familiar Call of Duty locations, works remarkably well in the dynamic battle royale space; and some elements like the arcade shooting are even enhanced as a result of it.

Ultimately, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is a fantastic game. The breadth and variety of content included in this year’s annual offering is quite staggering. The lack of a campaign may be disappointing to some, but the sheer quality of the content on offer more than justifies its absence. Blackout is a huge success, proving that Call of Duty can be more than what we’ve known it for since 2007. Overall, Black Ops 4 is the best the series has been in a long time.

Your enjoyment of Black Ops 4 will come down to two things: just how much you love Call of Duty and if you’re still firmly aboard the battle royale train. It’s still a Call of Duty game in its DNA and while it tries its best to open itself up to new players, it’s too faithful to long-term players to ever truly feel more than an iterative forward step over anything revolutionary or likely to entice jaded players back, despite its bandwagon jumping.

In the end, Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII is a rock-solid title, but it could have been so much more. Forcing it to fit under the Black Ops moniker was a mistake, and comes across as forced, given its very light relation to the previous three titles. The whole thing smacks of Treyarch wanting to take risks and go in new directions, but stopping just shy and instead tacking older characters or ideas.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is the breath of fresh air the franchise needed after a few bumpy rides over the last few years. The multiplayer put our boots back on the ground while at the same time introducing manual healing and a more diverse class system to heighten the experience. Zombies delivers more of what we enjoy about the series and even adds some cool customisation options that are sure to please both old and new fans alike.

At launch Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is a great multiplayer first-person shooter. Each mode plays in a number of unique diverse ways, but each maintains that core identity of a Call of Duty title. Fast and fluid gameplay, rock solid stability, and always a blast with friends. Call of Duty may have been originally developed by Infinity Ward, but Treyarch has taken the reins time and time again to further innovate the franchise into something greater, and this year is no exception.

Con Black Ops 4, la saga tiene el verdadero potencial de hacer que los veteranos regresen al terreno en línea con un sistema de juego que se siente justo y requiere de habilidad y, al mismo tiempo, se encuentra apoyado por 2 gigantescas modalidades que brillan por cuenta propia que valen totalmente lo que cuestan. Podemos recomendar Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, seas fan o no de la serie, pero con cuidado porque los multijugadores en línea deben ser tu afición, de lo contrario, te recomendamos buscar en otro lado.

Era fácil cargar las tintas contra el nuevo CoD por haber sacrificado la campaña, sin embargo hemos descubierto que hay mucho y muy bueno en su interior. Sí, ya no hay modo historia, pero en apenas un par de días es fácil que Blackout te mantenga pegado a la pantalla hasta invertir mucho más tiempo que en un modo individual tradicional de la serie.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 es, sin lugar a dudas, el mejor Call of Duty multijugador al que hemos podido jugar en los últimos años, cogiendo el testigo del gran multi de Black Ops 3 para ofrecernos un título adictivo a nivel jugable que, de hecho, nos ha sorprendido para bien y nos ha mantenido enganchados a sus servidores mientras realizábamos este análisis.

Wer seine Kaufentscheidung an einer Kampagne festmacht, wird in diesem Jahr eine schnelle Entscheidung fällen können. Aber wie sieht es mit dem Multiplayer aus, der den Shooter erstmals allein tragen muss? Auch hier fällt mir die Entscheidung leicht.

Hier tritt die Serie ähnlich klar auf der Stelle wie bei der etwas angestaubten Kulisse. Insgesamt bietet Black Ops 4 trotzdem ein gelungenes Dreierpaket, in dem vor allem der spannende Battle-Royale-Modus Blackout und der umfangreiche Zombie-Modus überzeugen!

An Blackouts Kritikpunkten muss Treyarch allerdings arbeiten, um die Spielerbasis bei Laune zu halten. Einen Einzelspieler-Modus mit kino-tauglicher Kampagne vermisse ich übrigens nicht. Das Spiel hat mit den drei verschiedenen Multiplayer-Standbeinen mehr als genug Inhalt zu bieten, sodass mir gar keine Zeit bleibt, dem Singleplayer nachzutrauern.

Sans réinventer la formule, Treyarch est parvenu à y insérer quelques éléments fidèles à Call of Duty qui le rendent intense et définitivement attrayant pour les grands amateurs de jeu online : il en est de même pour son Multijoueur, plus pointu et peaufiné, ainsi que son Zombies largement densifié qui parvient à imposer un contenu de lancement record avec trois cartes massives au level-design toujours intelligents.

On regrettera une fois de plus d'avoir affaire à un moteur graphique vieillissant, qui n'a plus rien à offrir si ce n'est une fluidité hors du commun propre à la saga, mais aussi le côté un peu trop générique de l'univers. Le mode Zombie enfin, bien que classique, a pour sa part de quoi vous maintenir en ligne pendant un bon bout de temps, ne serait-ce que par sa direction artistique de qualité et son coté oppressant consubstantiel et désormais immanquable à la série.

A direção escolhida nesta iteração (apenas multijogador) apresenta-se de forma sólida, polida e divertida, mas não faz esquecer a ausência da campanha, que apesar de pouco jogado, era imagem de marca da franquia. Multijogador competente, modo Zombies divertido e a entrada imponente de Blackout tornam Black Ops 4 num dos melhores jogos da franquia, graficamente e tecnicamente.

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 è un punto di ripartenza fondamentale per la serie. La rivoluzione contenutistica che ha fatto tanto parlare, ovvero il cambio tecnico campagna-battle royale, in realtà è soltanto la punta dell’iceberg di modifiche e migliorie che ha investito il vecchio corso della serie.

Black Ops 4 is een compleet gladgestreken multiplayerpakket die elke shooter-fanaat met een gerust hart kan aanschaffen. De klassieke multiplayer is met de terugkeer naar boots-to-the ground-gameplay de beste die we in tijden hebben gezien, voeg daarbij de beste non-builder Battle Royale en zenuwslopende Zombie-modi aan toe, en je hebt in feite drie games waarin honderden uren speelplezier zit. Het enige moeilijke aan deze game is kiezen met welke van de drie fantastische modi je aan de slag gaat.
