A Harry Potter game had been teased to us back in 2018, but so far we haven’t had any relevant updates besides the mobile Wizarding World games.
Now Portkey Games has dropped the first trailer for Hogwarts Legacy, and it looks to be an open-world adventure for anyone wanting to be a student of the finest school of witchcraft and wizardry.

Since there is already established lore for the Wizarding World around the 1920s and 90s, Hogwarts Legacy has smartly set the time period in the 1800s where players can interact with a more open story.
Not only do you get sorted into houses and attend magic classes, but it also looks like you’re going to be able to pick a moral side, from the good guys to whatever this era’s Death Eaters are called.
Admittedly the Wizarding World franchise has been in a bit of stumble since the last Fantastic Beasts film (and the recent controversy with J.K. Rowling), but Hogwarts Legacy is sure to keep people hyped for the magic world next year. With so much potential for the world, Portkey Games could be looking at their version of The Witcher III.
Hogwarts Legacy is set to come out in 2021 for the Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5, and PC.
