Read the Yakuza 0 review, it's basically that just not as good.

Yakuza Kiwami

What attracted me to this game was the story and gameplay. Even with a small map, there was still a lot to be done. Story is pretty long and there are a lot of side quests, so there will be at least 100 hours worth of gameplay. Gameplay was simple but fun. While the story is meant to be serious there is a few comedic moments.

Coming from Yakuza 0, this was an enjoyable game with fighting mechanics very much similar to the prequel. The story is pretty good and it was a nice challenge trying to strengthen the "Dragon" fighting style. Although I had run into a glitch and instead of upgrading it throughout the length of the game, I was forced to grind out and upgrade it, however unless you run into the glitch you shouldn't really have to grind for the fighting style. Overall very fun and a great first game to the series.

What a great game. It has a great Story and a good combat mechanic, but it turns repetitive over time. It has a lot of minigames and substories to have an entertaining experience every time you play it. BE CAREFUL TROPHY HUNTERS, the Completion List could be a pain in the ass and the Majima Everywhere tasks as well. I did not have the chance to play the original game for PS2, but this remake definitively worths a shot. And don't be fooled by the title If you had never played a yakuza game before, If you think that you will be killing everybody on your way and be a merciless yakuza you may look somewhere else, this a Story about a kick ass hero with a big heart.
