A remake of the second game has already been confirmed and with that game being my personal favorite, I’ll certainly be picking it up, but I’ll be the first to admit this setup isn’t perfect. As with all games, there are things you like and things you don’t, but not having a Light Gun in a Light Gun game is always going to be a problem.
LG18 · May 25, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full reviewHouse of the Dead: Remake, as a simple remaster, is an excellent example of what a remaster is supposed to be. It gives the original game a visual facelift while going to the extreme to not tamper with the familiar gameplay and aesthetic that long time fans have come to know and love.
Dan Lenois · May 07, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full reviewOverall, The House of the Dead Remake is a great addition to your game library and one that you’ll be playing again and again with its great replay value, finding various routes on the way to the bosses and their battles, rescuing researchers as you encounter them, and even finding score-increasing items and health kits as you mow down boxes and barrels along the area, and getting entangled in the battle against powerful bosses.
Ray Remigio · May 04, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full reviewThe House of the Dead: Remake was meant to be played with motion controls instead of sticks is an understatement; this is a huge disappointment. It would have been an easy recommendation if the game had been under better control.
Azfar Rayan · May 02, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full reviewIt’s a valiant effort, and an impressively authentic recreation all-in-all, but it just doesn’t hold up from a modern perspective – especially without a lightgun in-hand.
Sammy Barker · Apr 30, 2022 Reviewed on PS4Read full reviewStill, even with the control issues, The House of the Dead: Remake is good fun. And while a playthrough will take you less than an hour, this is the type of game you’ll come back to time and time again.
Richard Seagrave · Apr 29, 2022 Reviewed on PS4Read full reviewEqually, the soundtrack is absolutely brilliant, and will instantly transport any fans of the series back to the sticky carpeted floors of your local arcade. Simply put, it’s hard not to have a good time with The House of the Dead, despite the game’s best efforts. But unless it miraculously gets patched with true lightgun support to combat its glaring control issues, it’s also a difficult title to recommend.
Matt Lorrigan · Apr 29, 2022 Reviewed on PS4Read full reviewThe visual up-spuff is great, and MegaPixel have remained as true as they possibly could to the original game’s gameplay and beats. Even using a controller HotD is great fun, and those who haven’t spent the best part of 25 years playing it will just be treated to a gloriously fun arcade experience.
Jamie Collyer · Apr 27, 2022 Reviewed on XB1Read full reviewIt is a faithful enough arcade experience that you have time for at least two runs of the campaign in an afternoon. It remains a fun, fleeting experience if you have no intention of going through all of the paths and uncovering all of the secrets.
Cody Medellin · Apr 27, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full reviewHouse of the Dead Remake is a fun, quick romp perfect for a night in with a friend, but will most likely wear out its welcome after a couple of hours. The HD graphics help update the game to the modern era while the addition of unlockable weapons, a horde mode, and multiple difficulties help to extend a rather short campaign, but still doesn’t offer much reason to continue playing after you’ve completed the game a few times.
