MMORPGs are a great medium for combining socialization and entertainment - they have the potential to offer an arena where players can build relationships and form wonderful, lasting memories. At Stormhaven Studios we think the key to creating a successful MMORPG is to focus on developing the type of content that players come to enjoy in the first place and to make that content challenging, beautiful, and intriguing. The ability for the game designers to allow the players to be immersed in a game is where the real magic of MMORPGs happens. That is why Embers Adrift offers players a subscription-based game instead of a free-to-play model with a cash shop. This allows the devs to continue offering new content that is frequently implemented into the game as part of the development model, included with the subscription fee, so that players always have something new and exciting to experience. After all, they came to play, not shop - with this model the devs can continuously focus on developing game content instead of shop content.
