Apocalypse Run! is an RPG that parodies the edutainment titles of the 1980s. When your party of four's vacation is cut short by the Apocalypse and Motorlord Dysentery starts hunting you for sport, all your hopes rest on three scientists who might just be able to reverse the Apocalypse and set things right. Combat is turn-based with vehicles, and there are face-to-face encounters you can solve in multiple ways: through dialog, skill challenges (based on poker), or when all else fails, combat. It features voxel graphics that mimic 8-bit pixel art.
Features by the Numbers:
3 Chapters: Survival, Exploration, and a conclusion with multiple endings. 4 Factions: Punk Cops, Road Pirates, Super-Intelligent Pets, and Aliens. 1 Dynamic quest system, ensuring no two games will ever be the same. 7 Epic boss fights. 15 Character classes including: Pizza Driver, ER Doctor, and Telemarketer. 37 Vehicle types including: Cars, Motorcycles, Spacecraft, and Pirate Ships. 60+ Weapon types including: Spud Guns, Flaming Guitars, Ray Guns, and Homing Parrots. 30+ Crafting recipes, for making and improving weapons. 50+ Achievements to unlock character classes, weapons, and vehicles. Character customization with 20 distinct heads/faces and 20 clothing styles.
A note on translations:
You might have noticed that the game lists interface translations for German, French, Spanish; but not subtitles. The game already has support for translations, but because it dynamically generates quests and the dialog along with them, it might be difficult for translators to figure out how to write them. I'm working on making this easy, and hopefully more languages will be added.
