Samurai Beat 'Em Up Sifu Marks 2nd Anniversary With 3 Million Sales
Sifu, the martial arts-themed action game, is marking its birthday with not just one but two milestones.

On the game's second anniversary, indie developer Sloclap revealed that Sifu has already sold over 3 million copies.

"Your passion and enthusiasm have turned Sifu into a vibrant and thriving community. Your feedback has been invaluable, helping us shape and improve the experience," the Paris-based studio wrote on Steam.

As a way to thank fans and supporters, Sloclap rolled out new in-game freebies, including a skin featuring a cross-over of the studio's first game Absolver.

Beginning Feb. 20, Sifu players can get their hands on Risryn's costume and mask, inspired by the final boss in Absolver. In turn, they can transform the protagonist Pak Mei Kung-Fu into a fully-fledged Absolver.

The second free skin is a street-style jumpsuit which, according to Sloclap, has been a highly requested item from the community.

Released in 2022 for PC, PlayStation and Switch, Sifu became a critical and commercial success. It earned praise for its combat mechanics, story, and immersive gameplay.

The game, which currently has a Playscore of 8.6 on PC, takes players to a fictional Chinese city where they guide Pak Mei Kung-Fu into avenging the death of his master.

Sifu is a run-based, beat 'em up that also combines RPG and arcade elements in a third-person view. Players need to hone their kung fu abilities as they take down Pak Mei Kung-Fu's murderers one by one.

Just 48 hours after its launch, Sifu already sold more than 50,000 copies. A month later, it breached the 1-million mark. Due to its popularity, Sloclap also expanded the game to Xbox consoles.

Moreover, Sifu received multiple accolades, the most recent of which was the Best Game You Suck At from the Steam Awards 2023. It was also shortlisted in the Golden Joystick Awards, The Game Awards and the D.I.C.E. Awards. / ###
