Buckle Up: Heading Out Speeds into PC this May 7th

Here is something road trip lovers and fans of classic 70s films might want to take a look into.

An indie driving game that takes players on an emotional trip across the American landscape will launch soon.

Saber Interactive has teamed up with Serious Sim in publishing Heading Out. An immersive driving game, it will debut this May 7 via Steam, the American video game publisher announced in a press release. They have also released a trailer showing its progress so far, including a close-up scene of the character engaged in lawless action.

Serious Sim is an independent studio based in Poland.

Heading Out is inspired by classic road movies like 'Sin City', 'Thelma & Louise' and 'Vanishing Point'. It combines driving with narrative adventure and roguelite elements. Creators promised to bring an exhilarating racing experience coupled with captivating storytelling.

In addition, Heading Out heavily emphasizes player choices. This means players will get to choose how their characters' destiny unfolds. The game allows them not only to choose their adventure but also the choices they make along the way, and the legacy they will be leaving.

"It's not about the destination, it's about the journey," portions of its Steam description read.

They can expect high-speed chases, strategic races, and even unexpected encounters. All of these will also be brought to life with graphic novel visuals as well as an 'eclectic Americana soundtrack.'

Heading Out will also explore social issues that marked the 1970s era in America. These include racism, mental health, and social injustice, publishers added.

Meanwhile, developers will be opening a limited demonstration of Heading Out at the PAX East convention. From March 21 to March 24, interested players can try firsthand the upcoming game. / ###
