Creators Krafton and Bluhole Studio are bringing the extraction RPG ‘Dark and Darker’ to mobile this year.
In a press release, the publisher has promised unique-to-mobile features in version. This means more challenges await players with several new ways to play.
The new Sidekick system can give players a boost in their dungeon-diving adventures. With the system, players can recruit AI-controlled companions that they can level up.
Players can also take advantage of the pet system. This grants various buffs before entering a dungeon.
Among the key additions include high-level “endgame” dungeons. This Player vs. Environment (PvE) aspect will test players with their best-equipped characters. It will also give players unique rewards.
As for its Player vs. Player(PvP), it is all about crossing swords with competing player-controlled dungeon divers.
Dark and Darker is an extraction RPG. Players get new equipment and loot in every dungeon-dive. To survive, players will have to battle monsters and find treasure.
They begin their Dark and Darker Mobile adventure by creating a character. The character can be one of five classes: Fighter, Barbarian, Rogue, Ranger, or Cleric.
It came out on Steam last year under a different developer, Ironmace. This version was removed due to a copyright infringement claim from Nexon, a South Korean Game Publisher.
The game was a viral hit on launch, with many content creators enjoying its gameplay loop.
In 2023, Krafton entered a licensing partnership with Ironmace to develop this mobile adaptation. No word yet on whether Krafton will bring Dark and Darker to Steam.
This mobile version will expand its playerbase as it is targeting a global release in 2024.
Aside from being a mobile release, no platforms have been announced for Dark and Darker Mobile.
Krafton is set to conduct a test demo in Korea. It will be held from April 24 to April 28. Players can access it on Android OS-based devices.
