Broken Roads, an upcoming RPG set in a post-apocalyptic Australia, has a new release date. And interested players may not have to wait long.
American video game publisher Versus Evil announced that they will release Broken Roads on November 14. The game will land on PCs as well as consoles.
Executives at Versus Evil shared their excitement about welcoming players to the game this November.
RPGs are deeply embedded into the Versus Evil DNA and Broken Roads is among the best we’ve seen,
said Steve Escalante, General Manager of Versus Evil.
Broken Roads is developed by Drop Bear Bytes, an indie studio based in Australia. It is inspired by classic and modern RPGs such as Fallout, Disco Elysium, and Pillars of Eternity, according to developers. It combines not only RPG elements. But also turn-based combats, non-linear campaigns, and choice-based progress.
Broken Roads aims to give players a 'deep, moving and immersive' RPG experience, said Craig Ritchie, the game's director. Its creators also want to showcase their home country, Australia. In turn, the game will feature authentic recreation of photos and videos of the Land Down Under.
We also wanted to create a game that showcases our native Australia, so we put a lot of effort into making the world as realistic and believable as possible,
Ritchie said.
In Broken Roads, players can customize their characters not with a class-based system. But with a mechanism rooted in some of mankind's most significant philosophies. These are the Humanist, Utilitarian, Machiavellian, and Nihilist.
The game will also introduce players to an 'original morality system' called the Moral Compass. This Moral Compass will influence, and will be influenced by, players' choices throughout the game.
Broken Roads was supposed to launch in 2022. Developers, however, postponed it to a later date while securing their partnership with a publisher.
