Starting August 6, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/angelic/">Angelic: The Chaos Theatre</a> opens its doors for players to immerse themselves in its ambitious party-based <a href="https://whatoplay.com/best/rpg/">RPG</a> mechanics.</p> 

<p>Angelic: The Chaos Theatre offers an interesting take on established genre conventions by combining BioWare’s <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/mass-effect/">Mass Effect</a>’s deep character progression with web3 foundations. Players embark on an old school RPG adventure with believable heroes and contribute to its collaborative multiplayer space.</p> 

<p>The game features a familiar <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/best/turn-based-rpg/">turn-based combat</a> system. This allows players to lead their squad in strategic wins by making the right moves.</p> 

<p>The devs posted a gameplay snippet of what to expect in its open alpha.</p>

<p>Customization options for heroes' appearances, abilities, and equipment are encouraged to maximize Angelic’s experience. Players active in the community can attain rewards known as ‘Community Points,’ these allow loyal users to purchase exclusive hero skins, higher-tier titles, ANGL tokens and more.</p> 

<p>As of the moment, Angelic caters to both traditional players and web3 players. Players do not need to use any blockchain features to enjoy. However, in-game assets can be converted into smart contracts by utilizing various chains using Solana and Saga.</p> 

<p>Players skeptical about the web3 integration should not worry. According to their Website’s FAQ, “Angelic is not a play-2-earn game. Angelic utilizes blockchain technology with a far larger and sustainable vision.”</p> 

<p>The developers confirmed that any in-app purchases will be optional and purely cosmetic. Additionally, anyone can play Angelic without making any in-app purchases.</p> 

<p>The PC version is the only available platform so far. The team at Metaverse Game Studios are aiming at next-gen consoles as a next step. Switch and mobile versions and companion apps are also being planned in the long run.</p>

<p>Angelic: The Chaos Theater is currently in its Early Access phase. Players can expect core gameplay mechanics and a portion of its story available to play. A demo is up on Steam for anyone curious.</p>

<p>Riot Games has officially launched <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/valorant/">VALORANT</a> on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, bringing the popular tactical <a href="https://whatoplay.com/best/shooting/">shooter</a> to console players in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Japan, and Brazil.</p>

<p>Unfortunately, Riot maintains that it's omitting cross-play on the console releases.  This means that unlike other hero-shooters like <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/overwatch-2/">Overwatch 2</a> and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/apex-legends/">Apex Legends</a> console users will not be queued with PC players. Despite this feature's absence, VALORANT's console version aims to deliver the same precise, team-based, tactical shooter experience that PC players have enjoyed for years.</p>

<p>Both PC and console players will benefit from the simultaneous platform releases of all live patch balances, new agents, maps, premium content, and additional live service features. Its much recent patch included changes to its heroes, namely Neon, Raze and Iso.</p>

VALORANT Arrives on PlayStation and Xbox Consoles

<p>Assemble Entertainment and Spellgarden Games announced the release date of Camp Zinnias, the latest DLC for the cozy business simulation game <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/sticky-business/">Sticky Business</a>. This new content will be available for PC on <strong>August 15</strong>, with a Nintendo Switch release to follow soon.</p>

<p>This is Sticky Business’ second DLC after the success of Spellgarden Games’ first add-on content, Plan With Me. </p>

<p>Solo indie developer Jakub Rogalski and publisher Star Drifters made Scorchlands possible. It is a <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/best/strategy/">strategy</a> game where players explore the story of the birdfolk of Giwi, a brave nation that has always dreamt of exploring space.</p> 

<p>Their curiosity and community takes them to the moon of Helia. The Giwi will need to transform the barren surface into meadows, forests, lakes, and vibrant settlements. Throughout the game they will be aided by technology and magic. Like bees on a colony, the hex grid allows players to construct various buildings.</p> 

<p>The kicker here is that players must build proper structures to optimize resource management. With every next step and new settlement built, terraforming will become more challenging and the gameplay more demanding.</p>

City-Builder Scorchlands Leaves Early Access; Welcomes Launch with New Content

<p>Heroes of History invites players to build their own empires and recruit historical figures to fight as heroes. They can build a unique settlement that progresses through different historical ages and survive to avoid disasters.</p> 

<p>The gameplay involves strategic planning. Like <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/sid-meiers-civilization-vii/">Sid Meier’s Civilization</a> series, planning is crucial as players must assemble heroes into teams and position them on the battlefield to win.</p>

<p>Forming alliances with others allows for collaboration and rewards, while a rich event calendar promises a series of in-game events.</p> 

<p>Players who prefer to go solo will find its campaign enjoyable. It has an in-depth story about time-traveling alongside Albert Einstein while working to save humanity from disaster. <p>One of the biggest games coming out this year isn’t even a triple-A title. Black Myth: Wukong is shaping up to be the next generation of <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/best/action/">action</a> games. The sheer scale of its combat and visuals honestly feels like a big-budget title.</p> 

<p>Wukong goes all out with its ‘Journey to the West’ inspirations. The great Monkey King shapeshifts into different animals and bashes foes with his signature weapons.</p> 

<p>Note that this is not a Soulslike game. Sure, there are big and challenging bosses. But it’s a more linear experience like <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/bayonetta/">Bayonetta</a> and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/god-of-war/">God of War</a>.</p>

<p>Concord is a weird thing, but I don’t mean that in a bad way. Sony’s live-service hero-shooter took a page from Bungie’s <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/destiny/">Destiny</a> and Blizzard’s <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/overwatch/">Overwatch</a>. Despite the vibrant trappings of the genre, Concord feels like it has a lot to prove.</p> 

<p>Player's sentiments about the reveal was not good. However, with the closed beta last week, there’s been a lot of promise for its gameplay. It was praised for its unique cast of characters and satisfying gunplay. Storywise, there wasn’t much from the Beta. However, Firewalk’s devs have reassured us that the competitive shootouts come with an experience of its story.</p> 

<p>The game releases this August 23rd with an Open Beta coming soon.</p>

<p>Taking place 30 years after the original, the biting cold persists in Frostpunk 2.</p> 

<p>While the first game tested our morality, in this sequel the sunless skies have brought civilization to the brink of collapse. More complex choices will have to be made, overwhelming our job as the Overseer.</p> 

<p>New quality-of-life improvements will make sustaining life less of a hassle. The only things we need to worry about are depleting resources and the constant complaints of the populace.</p> 


<h2><a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/silent-hill-2/">SILENT HILL 2</a></h2>

<p>It’s been a long while since we stepped foot on the fog-covered streets of Silent Hill. Bloober Team, creators of the famed Layers of Fear titles, took on the helm of remaking SILENT HILL 2 for newer audiences. Oddly enough, this will borrow the first-person camera perspective of CAPCOM’s <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/resident-evil-4-the-mercenaries/">recent Resident Evil</a> titles.</p> 

<p>This reimagining takes us once again to the twisted town filled with unexplainable terrors. As James Sunderland, make peace with your troubled psyche as you encounter evil nurses and a dude with a Pyramid Head.</p> 

<h2><a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/diablo-iv-vessel-of-hatred/">Diablo IV: Vessel Of Hatred</a></h2>

<p>Blizzard’s latest <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/diablo-iv/">Diablo IV</a> expansion takes Neyrelle on a path of terrors. Vessel Of Hatred takes us to the region of Nahantu, an uncharted frontier drenched in demonic blood.</p>

<p>Apart from the new locale, this DLC also sees the introduction of the ‘Spiritborn’ class. This Shaman-like hero is a never-before-seen class in Diablo. As of writing, Blizzard has since showcased this hero’s abilities.</p>

<p>Diablo IV has been out for a year and many issues still need fixing. We can only hope that Blizzard has listened to feedback and addressed these issues in this expansion.</p>

<h2><a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/call-of-duty-black-ops-6/">Call of Duty: Black Ops 6</a></h2>

<p>Black Ops 6 sees the return of Treyarch as its developer. This latest Call of Duty game sets the bar for another next-generation shooter experience. One of its core focuses are the improved movement controls. Not only does it feel smoother, but the omnidirectional inputs make shootouts much more stylish.</p> 

<p>Apart from that, the campaign mode and the zombies make their return. The three modes, including online multiplayer, offer plenty of ways to play depending on your mood.

<p>The creator of the original Silent Hill, Keiichiro Toyama, moves on to a new body <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/best/horror/">horror</a> title. Slitterhead is not the type of horror that’s made to terrify. Instead, it’s an action game with a unique ‘body snatching’ element.</p> 

<p>Players essentially take control of a formless entity that can transfer from one body to another. Each body opens up new combat options in the fight against the spooky Slitterheads.</p> 

<p>It’s a game filled with gore and blood, pretty much like the classic Silent Hill. This is a completely new direction from Toyama-san, one that fans can enjoy with or not.</p> 

<h2><a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/assassins-creed-shadows/">Assassin’s Creed Shadows</a></h2>

<p>Aksys Games has announced that the PlayStation Vita cult action RPG <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/tokyo-xanadu/">Tokyo Xanadu eX+</a> is now available on Nintendo Switch consoles. This definitive edition of the popular Nihon Falcom game features revamped localization and includes a plethora of bonus content.</p>

<p>Set ten years after a colossal earthquake devastated Tokyo, the city has been rebuilt and life has returned to normal. However, lurking behind this facade is a sinister secret: the earthquake was caused by the emergence of a lethal shadow world known as Eclipse. Now, action must be taken to thwart the legions of Eclipse and protect the peace.</p>

<p>Gameplay combines fast-paced combat with dungeon exploration and social simulation elements, reminiscent of the Persona series. This includes interacting with various characters and strengthening relationships that impact combat abilities.</p>

<p>The Switch edition of Tokyo Xanadu eX+ offers several extra features. Players can enjoy new scenarios that were not depicted in the main story, including unique tales of the wielders.</p>

Cult Classic ‘Tokyo Xanadu eX+’ Now Available On Nintendo Switch

<p>NAYUTA STUDIO released their psychological horror game for the Nintendo Switch eShop. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/hollow-cocoon/">Hollow Cocoon</a> is a first-person horror adventure game set in 1980s Japan.</p> 

<p>An English trailer was released, giving a glimpse into its deceptively peaceful setting.</p>

<p>Players step into the shoes of Minato Jinba, a college student returning to his mother's hometown to tend to her ailing grandmother. In this supposed idyllic environment, Minato must hide from a monster and gather crucial evidence to uncover the hidden truth lurking beneath this family.</p>

<p>Much of its gameplay involves puzzle-solving, exploration and stealth sections. Survival <a href="https://whatoplay.com/switch/best/horror/">horror</a> veterans familiar with the <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/amnesia-collection/">Amnesia</a> titles will welcome the ‘hiding mechanics’ as an old friend.</p> 

<p>Hollow Cocoon features multiple endings, offering a captivating story with four unique conclusions. These endings depend on the choices made throughout the game. This allows the narrative to branch in different directions based on their decisions.</p>

<p>The PC version of Hollow Cocoon came out December 7 last year. It has received "very positive" reviews from over 500 users. It was praised for its careful recreation of the nostalgic Japanese countryside of the 1980s.</p> 

<p>This Nintendo Switch port supports all three play modes. Players can immerse themselves in TV mode, or keep the horrors smaller with tabletop and handheld mode.</p> 

<p>Hollow Cocoon is now available for Download on the eShop for $12.99. The game is currently at a 10% discount until August 8.</p>
