Yes, CyberConnect2 was limited to what they could do with the source material but charging the full price is just not justified with what is offered here. The combat is fun but without a decent progression system, even the most beautiful flashy attacks won't save it. Save your money and watch the Demon Slayer anime instead of playing Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles is a wonderful retelling of the already excellent Demon Slayer anime, even if its inconsistent story mode isn’t as much fun to play as its cutscenes are to watch. Still, it’s an impressive arena fighter where it counts, with combat that deftly balances depth and accessibility, but a disappointingly small roster also holds its multiplayer back from being truly great at launch.

Ultimately though, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles is a great experience for fans of the show to reminisce and recreate those epic battles Tanjiro and his fellow slayers get embroiled in. It looks brilliant in many aspects, the sound is spot on in all areas, and the overall storytelling is great. For the most part, the combat lends itself well to exhilarating encounters, but it doesn’t offer the most expansive arsenal or roster of combatants.
