Vigor is a looter-shooter experience that presents a strong form in its post-looting part, but when it comes to action moments, the game lacks required challenge due to its unbalanced design. Vigor will worth playing if the developer attempts to add more new content to the game.
The problem is that it just doesn't feel like that's going to happen. There is some fun to be had with Vigor, and the sting is dampened by its free-to-play structure. But it's tough to recommend it over other games in a crowded genre.
I have spent a lot of time complaining about Vigor on Xbox One and those who frequent it, and even though my points are valid, there is a degree of fun to be had here. There is a draw, a hook, that has kept me going back for more despite the faults in the gameplay. Surviving a firefight for instance, particularly if you didn’t start it, is very rewarding, while getting the drop, and running away with an enemy on your heels before surviving is a great feeling.
