All in all, Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet is a game that swings for the fences. It promises much more than previous Sword Art Online games have, and it delivers on many of them. For any fan of the series, I’m positive Fatal Bullet may well be their favourite entry thus far. However, there are still some big missteps that hold it back from its true potential.
Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet isn’t as well rounded as other RPGs. There are far too many loading screens, and the combat will be very hit-and-miss for many. That being said, the game offers a surprising amount of depth in both play and progression. Furthermore, the story remains interesting throughout, and doesn’t at all alienate newcomers. Fatal Bullet may not be perfect, but it’s action-packed, engaging, and immersive, nevertheless.
Sure there is a lot of grinding and talking in Sword Art Online, but when it hit, I really enjoyed it. The change for the series did it well, and being my first foray into the series I am interested in checking out previous versions and seeing where it goes in the future. Fatal Bullet isn’t going to light any charts on fire, but for those looking for a different take on the genre, it accomplishes what it sets out to do well.
