Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings sits comfortably between being an inviting arcade-style romp and a serious baseball simulator. It’s easy enough to get into the swing of things, but there’s plenty of depth for those looking for a baseball video game to invest in. Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings offers enough content and gameplay systems to engage players regardless of their appreciation of the sport. As seriously as Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings takes the sport, it’s still a fun video game first and foremost.
It's an enjoyable baseball sim experience, but one that lacks personality even with the ability to customize the roster to your heart's content. There isn't much to offer beyond the two gameplay modes, but there's still a lot to do even with just a season and exhibition to play around in. What SMB lacks in presentation depth, it more than makes up for in gameplay.
Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings is a good arcade style game with some great physics and gameplay mixed in to make it a fairly fun baseball title for all gamers of any skill to get into, thanks to the Ego system. What I can’t understand though is that games that scream online multiplayer don’t always get the online functionality, and if online was added here it could have turned this good game into a fairly amazing one.
