Aside from some inconsequential tweaks, there's very little difference between this and one of those "Game of the Year" releases publishers like to pull, where they rerelease a game with all of its downloadable content a few months after the original launched. That's more or less how this one ought to be looked at. ...Still a very good game, but it's on the more pointless end of the rerelease spectrum, and they really should have fixed those bugs.

All of the downloadable content that was slowly rolled out post-launch is included here.... The upgraded visual effects add to the overall atmosphere of the fantastic brooding story, and the action packed combat will have you coming back for more, even though the driving mechanics will take some time to get used to. While the landscape for open world action titles has changed drastically over the last two years, somehow Sleeping Dogs remains a diverse and highly impactful experience.

For better or worse, Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition is not that much different from your standard issue Game of the Year Edition. That is to say, you'll be treated one of the best open world crime adventures in recent years, and the game still looks great, if not dramatically different on its new hardware. ...In a platform library of open-world games that includes Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Sleeping Dogs commands an equally important role.
