There is no excuse for an online co-op focused game to ship with the online side of things not working. It is even more inexcusable that a patch hasn't been released yet to remedy the situation. At the time of writing, the game has been available for three weeks and is still broken. Payday 2: Crimewave Edition is an embarrassing, broken release that should be avoided by consumers and is a black eye on the current state of video game publishing.

With over 50 updates worth of content and a score of miscellaneous improvements, the value is definitely present with Payday 2: Crimewave Edition. Lack of a concrete story and various unpolished dimensions of the game lend poorly to its overall conception, however underneath its faults and beyond the connection and host issues, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition is a solid experience with tons of hours to invest in the progression system.

Payday 2: Crimewave Edition is deserving of two separate scores; One based off playing the game solo or with strangers, and the other playing with friends. It's truly a completely different experience. The former had me irritated and frustrated, usually resulting in a failure of the job, while the latter had me laughing, on the edge of my seat, and itching for "just one more" mission. Sadly, that's not how we do things around here, so I'll just have to settle on one.
