For what it's worth, EA's patching some of these missing features back into NHL 15. ...It's all such a shame because at its heart NHL 15 is a very solid hockey game. It just doesn't do any of the non-hockey stuff right. ...If nothing else, this is a great foundation for EA Canada to build on as it gets more comfortable developing for Xbox One and PS4. ...There are undoubtedly great things in the pipeline for the NHL franchise, but NHL 15 isn't a part of those plans.

I wish NHL 15 offered a more straightforward season mode, though the options to run your own team or play as a specific pro will give every fan what they’re looking for. Whether or not the horn sounds on home ice, every goal will give the fan in you the same satisfaction as if the game were live right in front of you.

With NHL 15, EA Canada has taken its secret weapon and buried it under a thick sheet of beautiful, glistening ice. There's a grand quality to the core of playing individual hockey games, coupled with the superb new presentation, that is made all the more disappointing in a package that lacks so much content, heart and passion for the sport. Though there's some enjoyment to be had on the ice, NHL 15 feels like the first major misstep the series has made in years.
