Hand of Fate is easy to pick up and play, and even easier to understand, even from the beginning. The adventure feel of the game is what really kept me going, and the combat, while a bit too simple at times, offers up a change of pace from the constant reading. It also has enough RPG elements and new encounters to keep things fresh and keep players coming back for more.
There’s a great deal of extras to dive on and some refinements and updates to the fields of play. It goes without saying that if you enjoyed the predecessor, you’ll certainly enjoy the sequel. That being said it’s far from excellent due the inconsistent difficulty spikes and the awful lag interruptions. With those issues to the side there’s a lot to look forward to. The gameplay remains tense and unpredictable throughout the entirety of play, and the dark alluring atmosphere is equally as potent. This wont blow your socks off, but it will definitely keep you entertained for hours on end.
If you like card games, simple battlers or fantasy role-play, then you really need to consider taking a closer look at Hand of Fate 2. The tasks and individual stories are involving and the graphics and sound set the tempo perfectly. Yes, it can be a bit frustrating and the difficulty curve and luck-driven gameplay may be a bit too much for some, but we thoroughly enjoyed its challenge.
