Earthfall just isn’t fun. The game has a solid foundation but that structure doesn’t hold anything that’s entertaining or interesting enough to merit the effort of playing it, especially when there are already several superior games that inhabit the same subgenre.
Earthfall follows a proven concept, but its delivery feels outdated, derivative, and woefully underdeveloped. The thought of a new game in the style of Left 4 Dead sounds great, but you would hope that whatever comes out surpasses its inspirations or at least matches it. Earthfall simply doesn't have the content or concepts to make a case for itself in a world where the two Left 4 Dead games are still viable options, and far better ones at that.
If you stay at the same objective, aliens will keep spawning, so you can make your own little endless wave mode. Bottom line, there’s a decent foundation here that just isn’t well executed, and that’s disappointing. As it stands right now, Earthfall isn’t exactly worth it’s $29.99 USD price tag, though if Holospark tightens up the areas that bring the whole game down, it might be worth revisiting later on.
