An excellent game that delivers an above average amount of gameplay for its cost, giving you the freedom to utilize an interesting set of powers to track down and kill a god. Beautiful environments and varied objectives more than make up for changes to the Chaos mechanic from previous games in the series.
As my blood-drenched boots descended the stairs to the crowded first floor, I rolled a severed head into the crowd of still-living cultists. First, there was an alarm, then the sound of a dozen swords leaving their sheaths. I smiled. For me, this is what Dishonored should have been about since the start.
Death of the Outsider offers a standard take on the Dishonored formula, tracking closely to its admirable ethos of freedom and choice in a world of subtleties and illusions. It's a decent finale with a solid central character. But it makes little attempt to try anything new, a sign that all the best ideas are likely going into whatever comes next.
