Dangerous Golf is a weird game. On paper it sounds perfect, exactly what I would want from the guys that made t-boning cars so much fun. However, in practice it feels empty. Nothing about it screams “one more hole.” Even with the changes they have made this is an empty game that lacks anything to keep me coming back for more.
With its brilliant graphics and mightily impressive physics, had Three Fields concentrated a little more on the zany and fun side of Dangerous Golf and toned down the often ridiculously over-demanding challenges of the later levels, recommending this game would be a no-brainer.
And the levels themselves, while few in number and repeated heavily, are kept interesting by a new assortment of objects, hazard zones you can’t touch, warp points and more. Three Fields has worked within limitations of time, tech and resources and still managed to squeeze this mad concept for all it’s worth. Sometimes it shows the signs of those limitations and that’s all that’s holding it back, but it remains a game we recommend.
