About this game

Developer: Tic Toc Games
Content Rating: Everyone10+

Adventures of Pip revitalizes the classic side-scrolling action platform genre. Pip -- the ultimate digital underdog – is a lowly single pixel in a 32-bit world who proves that you can’t judge a hero by the fidelity of his shaders. During the game, Pip gains the ability to evolve and grow by absorbing pixels from his fallen foes. Those same pixels can then be used to blast through environmental puzzles and enemies, devolving Pip back to a single pixel. Players will explore five stylized worlds and experience up to 10 hours of epic adventure saving Pip’s village from the evil Queen DeRezzia.

Adventures of Pip looks like just another 2D indie platformer on the surface, but from the first level it shows it is so much more. The experience of the team involved shines through, making this one that definitely deserves more attention.

Adventures of Pip doesn't reach the heights of Shovel Knight, which endures thanks to its challenge, creative characters and inventive boss fights. While Tic Toc Games' title isn't boring, it is not a challenge, but it is memorable and highly polished, sporting some lush art that will make ocular orbs wriggle with excitement. Playing through the levels with little friction is gratifying, since the game is very responsive, and sound design is strong for feedback, inviting gamers to press on to the next level.

The main idea behind Adventures of Pip is one that truly does keep on providing. By necessity, the level design needed to be as clever as it is so that the evolution mechanic didn't become dull very quickly. The team at Tic Toc Games have done a great job here for sure, but we just wish that there was either more volume to it in general, or more of a challenge to what is provided. It's definitely an enjoyable enough way to while away a couple of hours.
