Overall, the episode is hampered by the weak pacing of the latter part of this season and a real lack of narrative direction. Things keep going, and it’s good enough for you to keep playing, but you are never as engrossed as you should be until things really ramp up. It’s good, but the Walking Dead has been so much better.

It took a while for The Walking Dead: Season 2 and its story to find their footing, but Telltale still knows how to pack an emotional punch. Whether it was during the hostage situation at the end of the second episode, the escape attempt at the end of the third episode, or the twist at the very end of the season, there are still a number of heartbreaking moments that promise to touch feelings in ways that few other games can. Overall, this is the essence of The Walking Dead. It's tragedy and despair, with only that one faint glimmer of hope that keeps humanity going.

Episode 5 is an excellent display of the emotional journey that The Walking Dead provides, including some of the biggest decisions of the series thus far. The branching endings raise a lot of questions on how the series will move forward in Season Three and I know I absolutely cannot wait to see how they manage to go about it. The Walking Dead: Season 2 concludes exceptionally well and the season as a whole is worth playing, if for any other reason than to be able to play the final episode, No Going Back.
