Summary

Rayman, Globox and the Teensies have been sleeping for a century. During that time, the Bubble Dreamer's nightmares grew in strength and numbers, and so has the Magician (who has survived the explosion in Rayman Origins) who by this time has split into 5 "Dark Teensies". Rayman and friends are awakened by their friend Murfy who tells them about the bad news, and tells them that the 10 princesses of the land (including Barbara) and the Teensies have been captured by the nightmares and the Dark Teensies. Rayman, Globox, the Teensies, and Murfy set out to defeat these new threats.

Rayman Legends is a great little break from reality that proves platformers haven’t gone the way of the floppy disk yet. Ubisoft’s masterpiece has great pacing with tricky levels that border on vein-rupturing frustration without losing its fun factor, and a good platformer isn’t complete without moments of controller throwing game rage anyways.

Rayman Legends is occasionally flustering, and sometimes seems to demand more than a conventional controller is capable of. The surprisingly slapdash jury-rigging of Wii U features on other systems is glaring in its inelegance, too. However, we're still left with an impressively designed platformer that proves itself a worthy followup to Rayman Origins, making a few notable omissions, but adding some excellent new ideas of its own.

There’s really not much to be said negatively about Rayman Legends. As far as platformers go, there aren’t many better. And those that might be in the same league are probably only there for nostalgic reasons. This is undoubtedly one of the best platformers ever made, whether judging it by it beautiful style, addictive and unique gameplay, or its overwhelming amount of content. Rayman Legends was definitely worth the wait.
