Ninja Blade has no right to be as entertaining as it is. It's nowhere near as accomplished as the genre's heavyweights, but anyone able to see it as the roller-coaster ride it is should have a great time. It's a game to play in the company of friends, laughing at the on-screen randomness and insane bosses, and because of that we can't help but recommend it.
Even if the amount of content here doesn't rival what you can find in the best action games, Ninja Blade still delivers plenty of boisterous entertainment. This is good old-fashioned fun, delivered with panache and a touch of lunacy. Too derivative to be a classic and too simple to test your virtual combat skills, Ninja Blade is just a blast to play.
In the end, Ninja Blade is an excellent action game that fans of the genre will love. Of course, many - including my peers in the industry - may scoff at this title's similarities to Ninja Gaiden and even God of War. Still, action fans owe it to themselves to keep an open mind and at least download the demo. If you absolutely abhor QTE mechanics, know that Ninja Blade is full of the stuff.
