To be sure, NCAA Football 10 is less about major on-field adjustments - although there are some subtle improvements there - and more about expanding the game’s universe. An ambitious list of new options headlines this year’s effort, and most are welcome additions that’ll make you think twice before trading it in the day Madden hits stores.

EA has managed to find enough middle ground in NCAA Football 10 to make it the best in the series this generation. Season showdown strikes at the heart of the college football fan and running the ball feels much more natural. There are also tons of new features and no one can fault the developers for not trying. But many of them prove to be irrelevant for experienced players and there are still more quirks and cheap tricks than there should be for a franchise so long in the tooth.

NCAA Football 10 isn't a revolutionary step forward for the franchise. I'm still waiting on the game for this generation of console that makes me want to play it more than Madden. That's still yet to happen. That said, this is a more polished version of last year's game with some solid feature additions. While I'm not gaga over NCAA Football 10, it's definitely a great game and one I'll be playing for at least another month.
