Formula 1 2011 fixes things that were broken, adds things that were missing and iterates wherever possible. It's the little things that the core F1 audience will appreciate: the oscillating body work, revamped pit stops, improved tyre degradation, a dynamic cloud system. While casual players might question whether much is different a year down the road after 2010, those in the know - those whose second home is behind a steering wheel - will agree that F1 2011 is the most complete representation of the sport to date.
F1 2011 gets top marks in all aspects of the game, especially how it handles. There’s more than enough here to warrant a purchase even if you picked up last year’s game. Heck the online co-op championship mode might be worth the price of admission for many. If this is indeed going to be a yearly release, let’s hope Codemasters continues to evolve things as they have done this year.
By nature, F1 2011 is a focused racer that demands driving with patience and perseverance. That being said, there's a lot of flexibility built in to let players approach it however they choose, and this season's changes translate well to changes in gameplay that fans will want to explore.
